i was talking to the guy at the fenixstore fri PM and he asked how i liked my P1D-CE, and i told him (as i have posted here also) that it would be better imho with a clickie switch ala surefire, he said in about a month he is gonna have some replacement bodies that ya adjust the beam brightness via twisting the head (just like now) but it also has a clickie switch like a surefire on the end for on/off switching, he didnt mention a price but i would imagine its priced like most fenix stuff, and my P1D-CE with this mod would probably replace my L2 and L4 surefires, something i never thought would happen.

sounds like a winner to me...........

Sounds like a nice mod for the P1DCE, but isn't it a bit 'short' for holding, like you would a 2 cell light, or a larger 1 cell? I always felt the strength of the P1 series lights were the TINY size and output. If they lengthen it with a tail clickie that would sorta detract from a major selling point for me.

ya got a point but for me i could stop carrying my surefire L4 or L2 and just use the P1D for my tac lite, and of course its an optional thing.

I just got a fenix p1dce. Impressed by its small size, however one I go through the various light levels the beam doesn't seem to get any brighter. Eventually I get to the strobe level and the SOS level, but the three levels before those all seem to be the same. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Are you using a RCR123? I have heard of using anything but primary batteries causing the "levels" to not work until the rechargeable battery falls to a certain level.
If you are not using primary cells, try one, and see if that works. If you are, contact either Fenix or whoever you purchased the light from.
Mine is absolutley noticeable difference...especially between high and low (stage 2 and 3)

Thanks Smokelaw 1. I was using a rechargeable lithium-ion CR123A battery so I tried a surefire 123 battery in and the levels worked. The difference between 1 and 2 was not so great, but between 2 and 3 was quite noticeable. Thanks. :)

Sweet the only reason I haven't picked one up is I prefer clickies. This is cool news!

WooHoo! My advice worked! Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while!

Glad to see it is functioning now.
Take care,
