I've been looking at high lumen output lights. I am an REI member, and came across the Fenix RC40 light, with about 3500 lumens. I'm only using this light for nighttime hikes, and while I live in a rural area of northern central MD, 3500 lumens would be probably enough to get shot on sight. I have a 1000+ Zebralight headlamp, a 900+ Nitecore P something or other, and a Nitecore EC11, in addition to various smaller lights that I carry daily. I've seen the gigantic "four lights crammed into one" from Nitecore and Fenix at a knife shop somewhat local to me. The straps for the RC40 look like suspender straps to carry this thing. This would be a toy to play around with, I'm usually only going on night hikes that would last about a half hour to one hour. Looking for something to easily carry but with high lumen output is probably a pipe dream, but I'm still looking. The EC11 is the closest I've seen to an EDC light with high output. The Nitecore TM11 looked like it was a possible alternative.

Any ideas?

If you're okay with "2 D size light" using AA batteries, I've been looking at the Nitecore EA81.
It has 5 modes and puts out 2150 lumens on turbo, 1200 on high, and 460 on medium. It's 7.6" long with a 2.36" head and weighs 9.6oz without batteries.
Review on CPF is good so I'm going to order one soon.

Good luck!

Do they have to be lithium AAs?

Not that I know of, but from what I read at CPF, lithium and rechargeables give the best performance.

I've switched to Lithium and rechargables only since I'm DONE with alkalines leaking and destroying things!
