I just picked one of these up from going gear, dealer of BF. At 600 lumens I had to have it! Here are the stats from goinggear.com

Ordering off the website went very smoothly. I only could have desired a phone number. Also quick to ship just three days usps to me at no charge for shipping.

# 4 types of strobe mode: Strobe-Slow flash-SOS-Fast flash
# Digitally regulated output - maintains constant brightness
# Uses eight 1.5V AA (Alkaline, Ni-MH) batteries ( 4 AA batteries is available in emergency)

I cannot run the fastest strobe mode for more then a few seconds as it makes me want to puke. Seriously. I think it would be a pretty good deterrent.

Switching modes I find a little tricky, I'm still practicing. The low mode is perfect for reading or just minimal navigating at night.

They include a shoulder harness of sorts. Kind of awkward, I think that aspect needs more thought.

I like it and think it is worth the dough. I expect that I will cull 2 or 3 other fenix lights and sell them as this can take their place.

Just FYI, I got sent a red filter instead of a disfuser tip that I ordered, contacted goinggear and they are sending the right item and I can keep the filter.

Yeah, I don't have any employees, so a phone call would almost 100% go straight to voicemail, so I try to stick to email for communication. Someday I'll have a room full of customer service agents working 24/7. :)

Yes, goinggear.com is great to work with as I've purchased all of my Zebralights from them as well as some firestarting implements.

I'm not sold on the TK40. 8 AA? Not a form factor I'm interested in. Overall, I'm still undecided which MC-E light to buy. I'm leaning towards the JetBeam M1X as you can set the secondary level to anything you'd like. I wish the maker for the Legion II would get his stuff together as his light is currently outperforming all others in the field.

Check out this thread over at cpf:

I have one of these lights, and like it. And I'm more of a flashlight freak than a knife knut. Mine feeds on rechargeables, as I cannot imagine sticking 8 primary cells in this thing over and over.

LED technology has advanced so much that sometimes were forget just how dang bright the current crop of LEDs is. They rival incan bulbs in output, and are more efficient, can be regulated, and last virtually forever.

We got one of these in the shop just the other day. It's an amazing light (gonna' be hard not to snag it for myself, and I'm not really a light nut!) and I agree about the strobe making you want to puke! :D

thanks for the links to the other threads, I'm behind the times I thought I was an early adopter, :foot: FAIL!

I like the form factor, too many skinny lights lately, like one with some meat on it's bones.

The TK40 is the best ~$150 that I've spent on a light in a LONG time. It once again proved it's worth last night during a power failure. We used it in the tail stand mode to read by for HOURS. Great light.

Yeah, people either love or hate the TK40. It's too fat for some people, but others are looking for exactly that. Plus, a lot of people just really want to use AA batteries. Lithiums are more dangerous, even if the chance of their exploding is extremely minimal if you are using good batteries and follow the proper procedures. Also, you can walk into pretty much any store in the world and get AAs (alkaline or NiMh) at a decent price.

The Jetbeam M1X is the way to go if you are looking for big and bright. You are right, the adjustable secondary level is almost as cool as its ability to throw ridiculous amounts of light. Jetbeam is fast becoming my favorite brand of flashlights. Their stuff is a bit pricey, but everything they do just screams quality. Plus, they have been the first ones to do a lot of things lately, so I am excited to see what they come up with next.

I was bummed about the whole Neo skipping town thing with the Legion II (read the last couple of pages). It was shaping up to be a very cool light, but he had major quality problems with the first "premium" run and probably did not have the financial ability to make things right with customers. I know he said he never broke even with previous light designs, so it is disheartening to see such a promising maker fall by the wayside. I was going to wholesale a pile of his lights when production started, but now that obviously won't be happening.

Love my TK40 and with 8AA copper top batteries at only .20 a pop, it doesn't break the bank.
