I am thinking about picking one up before they are discontinued or something. I don't think they will be around for long because they are not very edc.

What's the word on reliability? bugs? problems?

I got mine several months ago. No problems so far. Great build quality and fit & finish. You will be amazed by what this light will do with 18 lumens on low and BLOWN away by the 630 lumen turbo mode! I did notice that the batteries will drain some if left unused for a long period... parasitic drain from connection I believe. Loosen the tailcap for long term storage. Check out several Youtube videos for reviews.

Thank you guys.

One question: Is it ok to keep it on turbo mode for an hour? Or is it only for a few minutes like the other fenix lights?

I have one. I like it. My only problem with it is that it takes too long to get from low power to turbo mode. You have to cycle through the other two modes first, about three seconds total. Not a long time, but still too long if you want turbo in a hurry.

Thank you guys.

I wouldn't run turbo for that long, unless you have it in your hand or are in a cold environment. The LED is putting out some massive heat, so it will get quite hot after an hour.

As far as being discontinued, I don't see that happening until they have a replacement for it. They are still selling very well for me and other dealers. I doubt a new model would be a direct replacement anyway, so it will probably stick around for a while.

As far as issues, I only have had one return on the quite a few that I have sold, and that was from a guy that used mismatched batteries that leaked inside the tube. Obviously, that does not fall under the warranty.

I don't know about the word on the street, but the word on all of the outdoor and torch (flashlight) forums I'm on is...... FANTASTIC!

The capabilities and versatility of this light, together with the good design and build qualities of Fenix make this a very good bit of kit, which, at this price is remarkable.

I have no need for this light, but find myself really wanting it for all the reasons stated.

What a beast! I would get one but I have my SureFire M4 Devastator which is a brute as well!!! The Fenix with 8 rechargeable AA is interesting though...;)

I love mine. I keep mine on the middle setting most of the time. If you check out Candle Power Forums, you will find a thread where a guy tried to destroy this light by running it over, dropping it on concrete and bricks, boiling it, and freezing it solid in a block of ice. Still going strong. Great light.

still pleased with mine after several months. I find the two middle levels are the ones that I run for long periods and the 630 lumen setting is only used to temporarily illuminate things. Run mine on eneloops which works well but yes there is a small parasitic drain that will flatten them over time if the head isn't loosened. The UI could be better but you can't have everything, especially not at that price. Build quality seems good. Amazingly compact for such a bright light, it's significantly smaller than a 2D maglite

I love mine. I used to have a SF M6. For half the price, this one is brighter (on the highest setting) and the light is true white, since it's an LED. OTOH, the M6 was built like a tank, and this one I'm still a little apprehensive about dropping, etc. I know it's just me. :D I love the fact that it runs on AAs instead of 123s, and the ability to run it off of just 4 batteries is pretty cool too. Anyway, I would definitely give this one a  - it's a great light for a very reasonable price.

There should be no fear of dropping this light. Take a look at the above link to CPF and look at the torture tests this light endured.
