I'm about to purchase one of these knives, and was curious if anyone has any experience with them? What blade steel is used? Any info at all would be appreciated.

Whitewolf Fer de Lance, or Pacific Cutlery Fer de Lance?

If it's the Pacific Cutlery Fer de Lance, it's got an AUS8A stainless, bead-blasted blade. The knife is Seki City, Japan-manufactured, and is very nice. Comes with a pretty durable nylon-weave sheath and you can sharpen the back edge easily to facilitate one sweet package overall.

I don't know squat about the Whitewolf Fer de Lance other than it's an auto with a skeletonized-Crawford-style 6061-T6 aluminum handle with an ATS34 blade.

Hey Professor, I was talking about the one from Pacific Cutlery. I've only seen pics of it, and thought it was a great looking design. Just never had the chance to handle one or find any specs. By the way,not really from Richmond, just got to school there. Haha. Still, it's not a bad city

I love the blade design, but the knife is not built for serious use. The guard is to square and will rip sking from between your thumb and fore finger (that is why I only carried it for one field problem).

Excellent design, poor execution.

Hey there Les, do you think it would be possible to round off the bottom of the guard so it wouldn't be too sharp? Also, is the guard the only complaint you have about the knife? Just curious..
