sent a money order on 22 feb. received my final judgment today 19 march. thats what i call fast return. ordered stroup & diamond paste which came with the knife. pics do'nt do it credit since the real thing is very impressive. stroup is thick heavy leather. knife is very sharp & wish i was going to ranch this week so i could chop on some cedar & mesquite trees.my camera wo'nt upload right now so maybe i can send pics tomorrow if i get help. this is a serious piece of steel & i will write up report as soon as i can get to boonies.

Enjoy it! They make great knives, and their steel is tough and holds a great edge!

I see over on Tactical Knives Facebook page that the Fehrman Blood Moon is on their July 2010 cover. Pretty wild looking knife.

Nice score! Although I don't own any Fehrmans (I buy Busses), I have heard nothing but good things about them.

I have had one for a couple years and am happy with it. Nothing fancy but excellent function-wise. My only complaint is that for the price they should offer DLC instead of the powder coat or what ever it is, which reminds me of spray on bedliner. The CPM 3V is the way to go for a large fixed blade IMO.

Congratulations Dennis!

Fehrman makes great knives. People really have to have them in hand to appreciate the craftsmanship.
The blade geometry is so good on their knives. They chop extremely well and yet slice with aplomb.
I really don’t compare them with anything else. They stand on their own merits.

Yup, they come sharp! They strop them before shipping. In fact, my Last Chance is the sharpest knife I’ve ever bought. The edge wasn’t mirror, but it was pretty smooth. It’s interesting that a 5.5 inch fixed blade came sharper than all my $400+ folders.

I also ordered a Final Judgement last week.:) I requested the satin this time. I too ordered the paste and Strop. Good to hear that it is high quality, not that I expected anything less from Fehrman.
I also ordered a Thru-Hiker to replace my RAT-3 which is a bit worn out.
Hopefully I will have both knives in the next week or two.
I will post a pic when they arrive.

received a call from my nephew last evening & he had been out chopping & batoning with his ferhman " last chance" for at least an hour.he's a stout boy & really likes to work out tension by hacking away with his blades.please let me say this is no comparison or competetion with busse. my nephew owns about 25 busses since he got into them several years back before busse became so famous. he got in at the bottom & built his collection at a very reasonable price. anyway after chopping & batoning dried mesquite for over an hour the ferhman would still shave hair easiley.some of the wood was almost as thick as the length of the blade. his comment was that he could'nt discern any decredation of the edge keeness. since he has used busses for several years i take this as a positive evaluation of the ferhnan. please once again this is not a performance comparison between the 2 products.

Definitely post some photos and after you use it let us know how it does.

Fehrman blades are great blade. I have been saying it for years. For the money, attention to detail, quality materials and warranty they are hard to beat.

That comes as no surprise. Most of the HOGs who own and use Fehrmans have nothing but good things to say about them.

bear funny you should mention the thru hiker since my nephew & i discussed the same knife last nite.for a little more than a rat 3 you can super upgrade.of course you living in alaska you certainly should know about hard use equipment. my high school buddy worked oil on the slope for 25 years & if not for back & ankle trouble would go back in a heartbeat.alaska probably offers more personal freedom than just about any place in the world. wish i had gone in the sixties like i started to do.one choice i still regret to this day. sorry getting off subject. i wish i had gotten the satin finish on the ferhman since black crinkle may be tuff, this is only knife i have with artificial coating.

One of the things that really shines on the Fehrmans is how easy it is to put a killer edge on that steel. I personally like using DMT blue, then red, then finish with either a ceramic stick or stone. I'm sure there are lots of ways just as good, but it works for me, and is quick and easy.

I just got a couple of Thru Hikers and love the ergonomics and utility of them. I had problems with the ordering process though, I'm glad to hear that you all aren't having them. These knives are worth the wait.

If you like this one, you gotta try the Peacemaker. It really is one of the most ergonomic knives in it's range that I've ever held. Good stuff!

I'm going to do a review when I get the chance, but I'll confirm that the 'last chance' is indeed one tough motha!

My first thought was: This thing is a tank!

Second thought: (in testing the edge) why is my arm bleeding?

Yeah... it is that sharp.

I batonned it last night through lots of dry mesquite wood with knots and forks, and did so again this afternoon for about 30 minutes. With no stropping, steeling or edge correction of any kind the Fehrman still shaves hair easily, and will remove newsprint.

In short, I am very impressed. You guys keep your eyes open... I'll put up a review with pics this week. I want to beat on this thing some more!

Oh... also chopped a frozen bottle of water in half with no problem.

Here is a 'teaser' pic...

i wish i had gotten the satin finish on the ferhman since black crinkle may be tuff, this is only knife i have with artificial coating.

The black coating is very tough and wears well.
My biggest gripe with it is that it hides the beautiful machining and detail work on the metal.

When I bought my LC a couple years ago, I had no experience with CMP 3V or Fehrman knives. I had read a lot of posts about the supposed corrosion/pitting of 3V. I really didn’t know what to expect. Now I know better. I whole heartedly agree with other Fehrman owners like Kyley Harris from down under. The bad reports about 3V are rubbish. It is more corrosion resistant than the “other” tough steel that it regularly gets compared to. (And that steel is pretty good in that regard)

So, this time I am going with the satin finish.

Just got myself a Peacemaker in satin. It is a user. I will get it in a few days and will then see how it compares to Busse's myself.
I own 4 Busse's at the moment - ASH1, BATAC, SAR4 and AD. I do use SAR4 and AD often. We will see if this little Fehrman will replace one of those blades as my everyday go to blade.

Peacemaker is here, thanks to a forumite, who decided to part with it. :)
It's late and better pics are due, so for now just couple of quick ones.

Hey Dennis, what SN# is yours?
Mine is #173.

Unless they number the coated ones differently than the satin, these are still pretty exclusive knives.

my blade is marked #171 on the crinkle coat which is really a tuff coating. thanks bearcut for bringing that to my attention, i'm amazed that such a small number of this highly recognized knife has been produced. in the future i will get the satin polished blades since the crinkle is harder to clean.nothing to cut at my house except some 2 in.shrubs. hope to get to ranch & try a cedar elm. wish i could set a trotline & get some big catfish so i could try the f.j. on chopping steaks across the backbone.gueess alaska is warming up enough for you guys to hit the rivers.i'm sure you will catch the big uns.
