I see a lot of bushcraft and psk type sheaths with ferro rod loops.

Anyone ship their sheath with a ferro rod included? I got to thinking about this because I've seen the rods at very low cost. It would be very easy to install a handle on the blanks, just wondering if they add a lot of value.

Just to reiterate, I don't sell sheaths (yet), but I'm curious about fire starters in general. Me personally, I'd rather have a magnesium block/rod type starter, but that would require a small pouch on the front instead of the easier, more simple, lightweight and less expensive loop. The mag block also requires more equipment for scraping unless one wanted to use their knife edge for this (I would never do that myself).

Seems people are pretty happy with them.

"Light My Fire" Swedish fire steel has been my most popular add on in the time I've been doing loops for them, and thats a long time. I keep one as a pattern. The Military size steel is most popular, closely followed by the little Scout.

If you have the ability to make handles for the blank steels then your in good shape! I dont so I go with LMF. :)

The second most popular addition is the sharpener. Arkansas, Ceramic, and the ever popular EZ Lap M.

Good thinking! I forgot about the sharpener. I believe Falkiven makes a popular sharpener, but I'll need to look into price and size. Not sure I'd want to start doing those anyway, being as inexperienced as I am.

A loop should be cake, and I can handle them all day long.
