ferrules & stick tang knife handles

I need a source for ferrules for knife handles for Nordic type knife handles. My 2nd problem is with stick tang knife handles. I made a handle with 1 inch pieces of wood alternating between 1/8 inch nickel silver spacers. When I started grinding on the handle the epoxy failed & the pieces of wood & spacer came apart. I redid the handle & again it failed in the same area. The tang didnt go thru the entire knife handle only 1/2 may-do i need to put a dowel or a rod thru the entire handle for structure & for something for the epoxy to stick too.

I suspect the problem is that the handle is made from too many seperate pieces, although it can still be done, if all are sanded & handled as little as possible at the joints & you have enough GOOD quality epoxy on the connecting surfaces. Also, the fairly thick nickel silver spacers could be getting too hot & causing the glue to let go. Make sure to pack lots of epoxy in the tang cavity, & give it a couple of days to cure totally. Just a couple of thoughts, hope they help.
