Ferrum forge Mordax

Well, it's a 500 dollar titanium framelock flipper. Of course, these days, what isn't? :D

So true haha my bad, I mean performance and attention to detail mostly. So many ti frame lock flippers out there now, everyone and their mother wants to make them. But something about this knife just had me drawn to it

I know, I'm just messin' with ya'. :D

I've got one, and its really an amazingly smooth flipper! Ferrium Forge is very close to where I work, and I met Elliot and Chris Williamson in person and got a tour of their shop when I picked up my Mordax. They're a couple great guys, turning out some really nice flippers.

Fit and finish are excellent, and the detent on my Mordax is perfect. It really flips open fast and solid. I think its one of the best flippers I have. Elliot does all his heat treat in house, and he's got it down for N690. The steel holds its edge very well, only needing a touch up on a ceramic hone to keep it razor sharp. I've had mine since before Blade, and its in my pocket right now.

Couple Pix for ya:

I just ordered mine in plain bronze Titanium and blue hardware. Got it without the milling because I want to see the patina and wear on the knife. How do you like the thick blade? Does it still slice well? I chose this over a hinderer in hopes it will withstand a good amount of use, how do you think it will hold up?

no experience with the mordax but ive owned about 5-6 or knives from elliot. Last one was a customized ferrox. His knives are definitely durable and will take alot of use. The only one I had that was lacking was a pretium but they were his first massed produced knives. I sent it back he replaced it. But he has come a long way since then. Dont know about that model but most of his knives are ground decently thin and are thinner behind the edge than a hinderer. So they are not crazy slicers but definitely proficient. Just as a side note most of the models I had from him were larger with thicker stock.

Glad to hear! Can't wait to get mine in hand, this is going to be my purse mid tech knife and my most expensive by a long shot. Off topic, but any other knives in the 400-600 price range I should check out?

All of them! Haha. My favs are two contemporary classics. The CRK Sebenza (or any CRK folder) and the Hinderer XM-18. I've not owned a Ferrum Forge knife mainly because of the small surface area of the pivot and the tiny pivot itself along with the really small handle screws. Personally I'm not looking for my knives to be great in any one specific area, but rather an excellent jack of all trades cutting tool... and on the sturdier side.

Congrats! I think you'll love your Mordax!
I like the blade shape and thickness a lot! I don't feel its too thick, and the high FFG makes it a very good slicer. I've sliced up heavy corrugated cardboard boxes no problem, and shoved it under nylon packing bands and sliced them easily. I've got a Gen II manual Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Spanto in CTS XHP, and I carry the Mordax more. Compared to the current Hinderer in S35V I think the Mordax will hold up as just as well.

My FFKW knives are the one EDC's I push the hardest! Mostly farm work, out tracking, and fishing. Never let me down!
