Fess Parker Daniel Boone knife

Now I can watch old Daniel Boone TV episodes on ME TV. It stars Fess Parker who carries a long knife with a wood handle in his moccasin boot. He can remove and replace it in his boot sheath with ease. I can pause the TV show and view the picture frame by frame and have determined have that the blade is about 10" to 12" with a short clip point, a straight guard and a wood handle. I have looked at a zillion knives for sale and cannot find one like it. While many knife sellers offer a Daniel Boone knife, none offer one like this. I don't know if it was rented from some movie prop company or made by someone like Hershal House who made a knife for Fess Parker in the Davy Crockett movie. Dixie Gun Works offers a Daniel Boone Bowie but it is nothing like the one Fess Parker carries as Daniel Boone.

Welcome. Since Daniel Boone died in 1820, and Bowie's sandbar fight wasnt until 1827, Boone did not carry a Bowie knife. May not be important to you, though. Which is fine.

Here's a ~1780-1830 Sheffield-made "cartouche" knife that was commonly carries around the time (from http://www.nps.gov/grpo/historyculture/trade-knives.htm)

Looks like the top one in the previous post, right?

The bottom one is pure fiction. Nobody carried stuff like that until Alan Ladd and Fess Parker. (And maybe Raymond Thorp)
