Just picked up a new Canon SD1000 today and figured I'd play some.

Being shot is my EDC Benchmade 921 Switchback. I've ground the primary blade down to 0.01" thick behind the edge, with secondary bevels somewhere near 10 degrees per side. I love this knife, but I think I would have preferred it without the small blade on the back (just make the handle flow).

Rigged up a light tent using a couple rubberbands, a couple spring clips, a white sheet and a mic stand, the lighting really helped, but it's still not perfect.

My setup:

Shot 1: (Focus goes soft towards tip of blade, uneven light on handle)

Shot 2: (better lighting, but not enough contrast between the steel and the background)

Neat tent, I am going to have to try that!

What caused the darkness near the thumbstud?

When I was regrinding the primary, the benchmade logo (butterfly and such) that had been there was dragged along by the belt sander and impregnated the metal.

I want to do a better job of cleaning this up sometime this summer, but for now the performance is fine and I don't mind if it's ugly.
