Any chance we could get a picture of you in your frogman suit, with the knife installed, and you ready for some aquatic action?

and few more.....and....and..Thawk we've really got to worry about you sometimes mate..I still remember your post where you said you think in terms of male and female knives...some you regard as male and some you regard as female, which I think a shrink would find mighty interesting......and you could find yourself all cut up over a female knife???? Yes there is major cause for concern. I think is was over some male and female sheath snaps. Well, those frogman knives are great pieces, and that is quite a leg holster too.

Thanks Larry! I never tire of looking at good pics of the oddity knives like that dive knife. But...I just spent an hour reading up on Sea Hunt, Mike Nelson and the television industry of the late 1950's - early 1960's. You KNEW that would happen, didn't you? :p Was your grandpa's name Ned by any chance? :D

Michael

Thanks...Codger my late Pa's name was not Ned although I have his 2 most prized possessions 2 battered and bruised knives he carried his whole life and he died at 88...his EDU knife seemed to always come out just when you needed it to cut some string or a Mango <yum>. I also have my late fathers EDU a Puma Prospector folder he was 37 years in Australian Infantry <Command Sar Major 6'4" and 18 stone of soldier parade ground tyrant!> in his final days he lay in old soldiers Repat hospital bed sharpening it with his stone <much to the chagrin of his nurses!!> ..just in case anyone needed to cut an apple or orange...my 3 most treasured knives...and will go to my son.....isn't that what knife ownership is all about.........?.............reminds me of his old Soldiers sense of irreverant humor....next door to his Repat Room was a ward for his blind soldier mates and I noticed the lights were out during the day making the ward quite dark, and I asked him why...he replied " Oh me mates are all reading in there!"...his blind mates all laughed like hell!

Codger,As the real Ned Kelly <Australia's most infamous Bushranger> last words to his hangman executitioner as he looked him straight in the eye.....""Such is Life""........Hoo Roo

I much prefer the revisionist version of Ned, a far cry from the gummit's version at the time of his "trial". He did have some quotes though, didn't he? I suppose we should all hope to be as game as Ned.;)

You know, there was another variant of the Frog Fender knife made without the guard. It would be neat if a serious collector who had an active interest in this rare...OOPS! Yes, I said it, RARE...pattern was able to add that other variant to his collection, no matter where his collection was located. Particularly if that collector was one who unselfishly shares both his collection and the information he garnered on his knives with us here in the Schrade Collector Forum and on the collectors-of-schrades-r.us web site. That substantial collections of Schrades exist and are "hidden under a bushel" is sad. And points in sharp contrast to those who do willingly, gladly... go out of their way to share with other collectors. It adds immeasurably to the collective knowledge of all things Schrade!

.....Codger is it true you hold the Guiness Book of records for completing a Cryptic crossword puzzle in 38 seconds flat ..mate??

P.S. My dictionary tells me a bushel contains four pecks!!!!! Hoo Roo

I've never tried to see how many of my chickens would fit in a bushel basket, but I suspect four of the big buff Orpingtons would be about right. Live, that is. Cooked and sliced thin, more like sixteen of those peckers would fit. :D

Maybe a bit off topic, but it apppears the ship has already set sail in that direction. Once about 15 years ago, a Buff Orpington in a cage at the state fair beat my wife in a game of tic-tac-toe to win a reward of cracked corn. She is a blond. A young onlooker announced the verdict to a large crowd of people, "She got beat by a chicken!". It was a Kodak moment.

Larry
I dont mean to critise your photo skills but you should have only taken those photos with the knife submerged under water.
Regards Tim

I'm apparently a little late to this thread but nice finds there Larry! I was speaking to a collector of diving knives not too long ago who had just snagged one of those. He said that the knives with the guards are much tougher to find than the ones sans guard. Apparently they weren't too hard to find for the blade bloodhound of OZ :D:D

Thanks all. Codger was having a tiny tongue in cheek dig at me obtaining another <3rd> mislisted long enough for me to have a crack and buy.Ebay #290236123778. This is the variant J.C. Higgins Sears Schrade Walden without the guard but with original alternate sheath offered with these knives. Matching J.C. Higgins pair. 850 made ...only 847 to go ..do you think many got broke/lost at the bottom of the sea over last 47 years??

P.S. Thanks Tim..I always make allowances mate for the fact you're from Tasmania!!!! and I'm from Australia...... Following on from your argument does that mean Michaels pink Imperial vibrator he shows with much regularity should be placed in/up where???????? for accurate photos....... Hoo Roo
