Few questions on site navigation

I must be missing something in the advanced navigation i only want to search HI forum how do i go about just searching post within this forum??

Secondly i am trying to search for an updated list of kami marks and inscription meanings now that i have 3 khukuris (got my CAK yesterday) i would like to know who made the other 2.

There might be another way but I simply bookmark the sites I want to visit directly. Then click on your bookmarked sites and select HI.
I have it set up this way for quite a few of the sub-forums and so can target the specifics but I generally start once or twice each day by just clicking on BF - "New Posts". Don't miss anything that way :)

I've wondered the same thing for a long time. I haven't found any option in Advanced Search to specify a particular subforum as the search domain.

The closest I can get is to search on "Yangdu", which will call up all of Yangdu's posts, which are all within the HI subforum. For some purposes that's good enough, but if you want to search the HI subforum for information not posted by Yangdu, it won't work.

If you want to search for info about an HI blade model, you can enter the model name (such as Ang Khola) in the search field, and all or most of the hits will be within this subforum. The more specific your search, the more likely the hits will be in the desired subforum. For another example, if you want info about Bura Kami or Bura-made blades, enter "Bura" in the search field.

If you can't find the info within, post a picture, one of the HI pundits will most assuredly be able to answer your inquiry.
 
So the way to do a search just within the HI forums is to use the Search Forum box that's up towards the top right of the page. It's the one right next to the box that says Forum Tools. If you want to do it in the Cantina you do the same thing in the Cantina. Don't use the search bar at the very top for this.

I saw the stickies but it seems like some of the marks have not been updated. Since i just joined and bout my 3 khukris im guessing they are new kamis. I would just like to know more about these pieces as its great to know we are supporting individuals in nepal.

I will post some pics shortly.

Cool i was trying some searches but seemed to always draw me to the broad blade forum results. I will try more specific. I like the yangdu way at least will focus the results. Thanks

Thanks i will do that shortly i would love to understand the marks and the people who make these. I know the U.B is for uncle bill i think the other marks on the same side might be for birghorka.

Yeah but I completely missed that you were actually asking about the SEARCH feature and how to keep that dedicated to one sub-forum. :confused: No idea how to do that so I will read these posts! :) You are welcome nonetheless.

I sometimes use google to search the forum.

For example, if I wanted to search for kami marks I would enter this into a google search:
site:bladeforums.com kami marks

and the first page of results seems to be more relevant than the first page of results that I would get by searching the HI forum with the same search terms
kami marks.

Take a look at the screenshot I posted above. It shows you how to do it.
