Two of these pouch sheaths are of 10oz veg tanned leather, and I had to wet the center line of the sheaths in order to get them to fold. I did not wet mold them per se. I did let them dry fully before waxing.
For the beeswaxing, the tools I use are an old aluminum camping pot, a smallish paint brush, and a hair dryer.
For materials I use a beeswax/candle wax mix. 5 parts beeswax to 1 part candle wax.
I melt the waxes on the stove, temp medium low. While waiting for the wax to melt, I use the hair dryer to warm the sheath. By the time the wax melts all the way, the sheath is slightly warm.
I then use the paint brush to paint the melted wax onto the sheath generously. Once the sheath has been coated, I use the hair dryer to melt the wax on the sheath. Some of the wax will come off, so I do this over the wax pan. Most of the wax will be absorbed by the leather.
Once all the wax is absorbed/dripped off, I let it cool. You can use a rag at this point to remove any excess wax. This is also a good time to refit the knife while the sheath is warm.
Once cool, buff with a soft cloth.
