Had someone approach me yesterday asking if I was a hoodlum? I said what? She saw my two tactical knives in my pockets and I happened to have my black leather with red flames biker chain wallet out to pay for an item I bought last night. I said of course not.

Do leather chain wallets and knives go together or something?

How many of you also carry a biker or trucker wallet on your person? Are you a hoodlum then?

And if you were a hoodlum, would you have replied,"Why yes I am a hoodlum. Thank you for asking."?

On a more serious note.

You will always be judged by your appearance.

Unfortunately, this will always be the case. Being different has always drawn attention - good or bad. Just like the man wearing the fine suit...you may mistake him for someone of wealth or power or breeding (gee can you say something like that these days??), but he may be 60 days from bankrupcy, and a bad person...

It's marketing my freinds, and most people just don't know the truth from the stories (cause most of the stuff in the news is just that, a story made up from some guy that took creative writing in college).

The only thing I can say is...if you don't want to attract attention, don't drive a red ferrari.

Regards,

Darren.

Now I ask you? Do I look like a hoodlum?
NO, I a family man with two jobs, and many knives

One chain wallet!

That was a dumb question for her to ask. If you were in some way dangerous, that comment would have probably pissed you off, and you would have attacked her.

Clearly you are not a hoodlum, so why do they even bother asking such silly questions? A friend of mine was telling one of her friends (who had not met me) how I always carry knives. She showed him a picture of me, and he said "that guy doesn't look like a knife slinger!" Then she pointed to my belt area where you could see my Spyderco Wegner.

I guess we will all be judged on how we appear. I guess I get the better deal, since "I don't look like a knife slinger" (I guess that's a good thing

sorry for running off topic

I would have said, "Wow, I haven't heard the term Hoodlum since Blackboard Jungle, just how the heck old are you?"

You should have said " why No, are you a reporter"

Unfortunatly
Scooter is right however No matter what we are judged by our appearance. I cant walk into a store without every security guard in the place following me. Meanwhile I dress fairly conservative, I am an exhibits manager in an upper west side manhatten childrens museum and make a decent enough salary. I have a college education and carried a 4.0 average. What draws thier attention. Well Im tan in winter and have dark curly hair. Im of latin descent. At least you can change your style of dress. Although my opinion is screw that. If it makes you happy stick to it and just accept the down side.

What's wrong with looking like a "hoodlum?"

It probably saved my A$$ several times while I was growing up in NYC (Brooklyn). Muggers tend to be lazy. When in doubt they will not challenge a questionalble (potentially dangerous) target. So go ahead and look like a dangerous mal content. Just make sure you stay within the law and carry only permissible items; because, your appearance may attract official attention at any time.

I was thinking maybe she was trying to pick you up, until I read how old she was. 'Course, maybe she was trying to pick you up...

I assume anyone wearing the Cleveland Indians
emblem to be a hoodlum.

Changing into a proper Yankee's shirt will
make a huge difference

We can discuss this further in October

If I was to judge by appearances i'd trust you before i'd trust the guy in the fine suit.

Been a biker type most of my adult life.Been riding Harleys since mid 50's.My appearance to some people may be interperted as a bad guy.I'm really not. After people meet me they say later that I'm not at all what I look like.
Riding across the south in the 60's brought new meaning to the words" Redneck Sheriff"
Never carried a knife with a blade longer than a SAK.

A lot more poeple have been robbed by guys wearing 3 piece suits and silk ties than leather.
Kind of funny when you think about it.

Tom W, you got that right!

Wonder if any these MLB players carry knives when at off time?

Wonder if there are any MBL players here at BladeForums.com?

Course this would bring up a whole new thread topic!
