FFBM handle styles

Am having trouble searching for this (too generic--turns up too many threads), and could use some help.

I've seen references on the Busse for sale forum to FFBM's with magnum handles, and I've also seen the statement made that only one standard handle style was offered on the FFBM. From pics offered on these for sale threads, I can't see a difference between different knives being advertised both ways.

Question: How many handle styles were available on the FFBM, including G10 and micarta?

Many Thanks,
Will

There were a lot of different variations.
Most had both mag & standard handles... some, mag only, and some standard only.

Let me see what I can remember on the combos...

I think it might be better to list it as handle colors versus blade/handle combos.

So, from what I remember...
If it was canvas or linen micarta... there were both mag and standard options.
If it was desert camo G-10 (like on the smog wardens) it was standard only.
I think all of the other G-10 options like black & tan, red, blue, orange, etc... they were mag only.

Thanks, Lil' Foo. I have a sage FFBM with G10 handles, and can't tell much difference between the thickness on it and the standard handle thickness on an FBM. Certainly, my FFBM G10 handle is not as thick or as contoured as on an FBM LE, for example, or even as thick as the mag handles on an ASH-1. So are the G10 handles on my FFBM "standard", or are the mag handles on the FFBM's just not very "mag"?

Does anyone have a side-by-side pic showing the spine view of a standard-thickness FFBM handle next to a mag FFBM handle, for reference?

Thanks again,
Will

If it doesn't have the thickness or the deep contour, it's not mag.

IIRC... the sage blades were only offered in black & tan canvas (both mag & standard) and the desert camo G-10 standard.

type in "ffbm magnum" into the search engine. if you can ask a qeustion such as "was the busse combat ffbm ever produced with magnum scales rather then standard scales?" and pick out at least 2 words that involve the topics of your question that aren't comment, you can proabbly make the search engine work. in this case, busse cmbat, produced, scales (maybe), and standard would all be too generic of search terms.

a qoute from guyon:
Not quite. The SE is a bit thinner (.27" versus .32" for the FFBM), and the mag handles are not quite as "full" as mags on the FFBM. They fit my hand much better. The FBM SE is actually my favorite BM for use. I just saw one on the Exchange today and was stunned to see it.

I have a FFBM with a sage blade and tan mags that I picked up from Hammy and the Indy 1500.

Will,

If you are asking about the sage/sage FFBM that you have......they were only offered with standard handles. All other G10 offerings were mags.

Will, if it is a sage you have, then yes, they are all std handles. But other versions came with mags. Users are best with stds though easier to control.

Thanks, guys. That explains a lot, and I appreciate all the responses.

Best to all,
Will
