I got my Battle Mistress about 6 months ago in new condition. I only looked at it at first and then used it a little hear and there......... until this spring.
After splitting about a half cord of wet birch it started looking a little different. My son asked me if it would still shave the hair off of my arm and since I hadn't sharpened it since I started cutting down the green forest I was, to say the least, doubtful. So, when it shaved the hair off of my arm, albeit with a little more pressure than right after I had sharpened it , I was in awe !....... as in....... AWESOME !!
Six months ago I would not have believed this story and as the finish was comming off and my hands were getting more sore I kept checking the blade for sharpness with my finger tips and it was always there. About half way through the woodpile I made the decision to not sharpen it until I was done. It always seemed pretty sharp at the end of the day but shaving sharp after a half a cord....wow !!
