I have had a CG FFBM in my possession for some time now. One of our generous HOGS (OP:D) sent it to me to drool over. And drool I did. I'll admitt that it felt too heavy at first. Not 100% sure if I was going to buy it this bad girl was to be drooled over only. No chopping :grumpy: which was really hard for me. Anyway, the more air chops I did the better she felt. So I decided to make a comittment to buy this one and see what this baby could do. Here is a quick clip of the FFBM eating up a 2x4.

This bad girl destroyed the 2x4 in 9 chops. I did the same thing approx. 8 times today. Still shaving sharp with no edge damage what-so-ever. Most of the time it took between 10-12 chops. It still has the factory edge and coating. Althoiugh she will be nekkid soon enough. One thing I noticed is that on really deep bites she tends to bind. Perhaps a satin finish will reduce this. We shall see.

Another note, I was a bit put off by the handle at first. I think that it is just so different that it rubbed me the wrong way. However, once I actually used it I finally understand Jerry's design. It is really an excellent handle for such a large chopper. I don't think I have held a grip as secure as this one. And the balance feels perfect.

Time to get some pants for this girlie. :D:thumbup:

thats awesome! but you need some good strong clamps, I think. I'm betting holding it with one hand and chopping with the other has something to do with that binding.

Excellent point. I was thinking the same thing. I imagine that if I was chopping into a door or wall frame or tree, the knife would be much easier to just lever out. Good call.

excellent work. The FFBM is definitely a beast. I think with a little work you could cut it down to 6-7 strikes.

That's a sweet stump ya got there, too!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for the video. Its fun to see what they can do :D

Now I need to go find an old 2x4 and see how many chops it takes me with my cgfbm. I'd guess about 20

Tyrkon,
Are those mag handles or standard? Also, is that with factory edge or did you sharpen her up? Thanks, and thanks for the vid. She sure can cut!

They are standard handles and factory edge.

Cobalt: I think you are correct about 6-7 chops. When my technique improves, I get used to the knife, and if it were secured so I could put my weight into the chops then I think we'd see some potential.

More fun tonight. When the kiddies and wife are asleep. All ending with a nice fire to warm things up a bit. :D

Thanks to all you chubby chassers that goaded me into getting oe of these. ;)

I think you and that FFBM are going to make history! :D

The way you beat and pry with that measley little BATAC makes most forumites shudder - now that you have that BEEEEAASST of a FFBM - Whoa! I don't know if we're ready for that! ;)

Get some, Tyrkon!
:D

Here are a couple of pics showing coating wear after chopping through about 10 different 2x4s, several chops into a beefy tree stump, and a few stabs into the same beefy tree stump.

Plenty of coating left. I might just strip it tonight as I really prefer a satin finish. I wonder if it will noticably cut down on friction. Hmmmmm?

Either way, satin is sexy on a Mistress. :D

Cool vid TL!!!

I agree that clamps would help... and, mine is stripped and I don't have any bad binding on mine.

Thanks for sharing another cool vid!

Tyrkon -

Give us some photos of the whole blade before you strip her - looks like a LE with a coating! Most FFBMs had a saber grind... COOL! :D

Will do. But it's just a reg. FFBM with saber grind and all. But I like that as the thicker spine seems like it would increase its already insane prying potential. Pic comming up. :)

Very nice! ...I haven't tried one of those...Yet. :D ...I have 2 CGFBM users & an LE user. Love chopping with the LE.
