FFBM vs FBMLE

Hey guys I'm new here and have been into knives for a while, but am new to Busse and Busse kin knives. I was just wondering if there is any difference between the two knives other then the higher price and (in my opinion) better looks of the FBMLE. Thanks, all help is appreciated!
 
FFBM = Saber grind.
FBMLE = Full height grind.

Both should be about the same thickness ~.320" but the full height grind on the LE makes it feel noticeably lighter in my opinion.

If your talking about the FFFBM fat flat fusion battle mistress and the FBMLE they are the same thickness, so you picked up on the biggest difference that I am aware of, the looks! There is a difference in the grinds also. The LE is more expensive but it depends on your preference, whether you want a CG or an LE. They are both awesome choppers!!!
 
I WILL score a FFFBM as my first Busse ..........and then beat it like it owes me money! :D
 
the ffbm feels way more tankish, it's heavier and feels noticably blade heavy.

the fbmle is much more neutral in the hand, so that it feels lighter and "faster".

if your going to do other things with the knife then chopping, and want versatility, go with the fbmle. if you just want something that will give you as much weight for chopping/prying, and nothing else - ffbm.
 
The FFBM really does not feel that heavy to me but I have never handled an FBM LE. I did, however, sand the INFI dimples off of my FFBM and though it looks more like an LE now (a little) I can't say I noticed a weight difference.

To me at least, the FFBM is noticibly heavier and I don't think it could out chop the FBMLE even with the extra weight....more than likely just fatigue you a little faster. The main difference that you'd see is that the FBMLE is much more aesthetically pleasing, but they're both excellent knives....because of the saber grind on the FFBM, the FBMLE will pass through whatever medium you might be passing through in one swipe easier because of the full height grind while the FFBM will bind/stick easier because it's only ground 3.5/5ths or so of the way up and will cause more drag because of it.
 
i have a FBMLE, but i now want a FFBM...

the saber grind might hinder its slicing ability, but it would also lead to stronger lateral strength...

i want a FFBM, but they seem to be hard to find...
 
everyone who handles the FBMLE is surprised at how agile and fast it is. Awesome blade. I say get the le everytime
 
Welcome, I say grab the LE because it is available from the company store. You can always grab a FFBM or CGBM later. I honestly don't think there would be much noticable difference unless you intend to use it for long periods of time. You'll be impressed with any one of them.

If more lateral stregnth is what you want, I'd probably get a splitting maul or axe....you'll never need something with more stregnth than a FBMLE....you'll never break a FBMLE during normal OR heavy use....impossible.

I remember Gravelface showed some pictures a while back with his FFBM bowing around a knot while batoning it through a particularly tough piece of wood....it'll still flex even though it's as thick as it is. You'll never break ANY battlemistress though :p.

Agreed :thumbup:

You have got to be a monster to break a FBMLE or FFBM with your bare hands. Either one would be plenty strong and will take up more abuse than most of us can dish out.

FBMLE all the way if you can afford it. It is in my opinion the most beautiful of all the factory FBMs.
 
Wow, what a stunning knife, I think I've found the perfect upgrade to my trusty camp KABAR! I'm new to Busse but from what I understand from the stickies he only makes 1 or 2 models at a time, and it looks like the current one is the Anniversary Steel Heart, how do you go about getting a knife like the FBMLE or do you just have to wait until it's in production again?
 
Check the exchange here. FBMs pop up all the time. The FBMLE doesn't pop up as often, but you can find them still. :thumbup:

You can still get the FBMLE from the Busse Company Store.

The FBMLE is literally 3 times the knife of the KABAR in every respect ;)
