I know many of you are fans of the FFG blade. I'm sure several of you have had and carried the G10 Delica with the FFG blade.
I've snagged some of the new Delicas and started to EDC one. If any of you have seen my posts here you know I'm a Delica fan from way back. After carrying one I've noticed the blade is way thinner than anything I've carried before. Even thinner than my older hollow ground D3.
I'm not one that's hard on a folder and I've never even broken a tip on a D3 but after seeing this new FFG blade I'm wondering how careful I need to be with it.
I carried a D3 for over 10 yrs and the D4 saber grind since Jan.
Never worried much about either of those with regards to what I was cutting.
I was just wondering if I was being paranoid in babying this FFG or is it as serious of a cutter as past versions?

It slices great but in the past I've had to cut open bottles and other random stuff. Sharpening hotdog sticks and that kind of stuff. Nothing abusive. I have a prybaby and Busse knives for that.

I'm just looking for thoughts from those that have carried a Delica with a FFG. I know other Spyderco knives have FFG but I believe their thicker overall.

I know time carrying and use will tell but I'm just curious as to what others have experienced.

I don't worry about my FFG delicas. My kershawl leek i worry about breaking the tip on but the delica i have no question in my mind about it.

If a delica 3 worked fine for 10 years then I think we can assume that you know how to use a knife. I’ve had a G10 delica for some time (same nice thin ffg) and the thin blade and wicked tip have proven to be an asset rather then a liability.

They are great so far. I have the FG G-10 Endura and the new blue Endura/Delica. Just do not try and pry things with it, many people forget that a knife is to cut with and a prybar is for prying.

havent had any problems with mine yet. seems to be just as strong as the regular grinds.

I have been carrying for some time a FFG Pacific Salt and never had issues with the thin blade or the narrow tip
I haven't received my 'elephant sweat' delica yet (still on the way) but I assume she would be thicker than this...

I've been using the FFG G-10 Delica 4 for a while. It sits on my desk at work. Have had no issues with it at all so far. Great knife.

:D;)

I did notice the G-10 Endura has a slightly thinner blade than the current FRN FFG versions. I have the smurfaliscious variety, I need to start looking for the Elephant Sweat versions soon.

The tip is specially built to prevent breakage isn't it? Just use it like a Spyderco and not like a Busse.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I use it as a knife and not like some people do.
I remember being at Blade a few years ago, talking to Sal and I pulled my D3 out and he almost looked surprised that it was in such good shape, save the coating on the clip being about half gone. It's an ATS-55 hollow ground variety.

Actually I'm not even hard on the Busse knives really. Never been one to stab cars or walls. :)

Glad to hear so many people have carried such a thin blade without issue.
