So I just got my first two Spydies a few days ago. Up until now all my knives have been hollow ground and served me well. I went to take down some pizza boxes from dinner last night and that's when I saw the difference. My hollow ground knives never soared through the material like butter. I was super impressed until now, but I think I'm hooked lol

yep, for EDC folders, FFG is my favorite for all-around performance. I'm sure high hollow grinds are supposed to have some sort of advantage, but I haven't seen one in my usage.

Which knives did you get, any pics? Depending on what you have the ffg works great for food prep.

I think the benefit of the hollow grind is keeping the minimal blade thickness through repeated sharpening. I've found FFG to be better in slicing than either HG or saber grind.

When I discovered how well a full flat grind did performance wise was with food. Back around 2005 when I got my first Temperance 1 models )PE & SE I used both of them to cut up and process some food I was cooking. Now I had both of the Temperance 1 models sharp as a witches tongue but both of those VG-10 Full Flat Grind blades literally made child's play out of that job. I've noticed the same performance with my Military models as well.

Now I do like some of Spyderco's other grinds good also but for food I still use my Full Flat Grind Temperance 1 models a lot in the kitchen and for field dressing animals. That's also when I really gained a big appreciation for how good of an all around performing steel that VG-10 is as well. The two go good together. Can't wait to get a Soutfork for that same reason and the S90V steel it has.
