Just ordered a 2014 Manix 2 from the SpydercoStore. FYI, they suggested that I order before Sunday evening (1/19/2014), as they are putting their 2014 pricing into effect at that time, on the Spyderco line in general. Have gotten good prices and good service from these folks.

Might be a good time to fill any arachnid needs!

Did you order an XL? I don't see a regular manix with the ffg blade? The only ones they have are the hollow ground with 154cm

I emailed customer service at the vendor, and they said they had the 2014 model with the FFG blade in stock, and were in the process of updating their store. BTW, I already have an XL, which is why I was so keen on getting the Manix 2 FFG. I really like the XL, but am more comfortable with a knife the size of, say, a Blur for daily use. I attached a note to my order referencing that email, so hopefully the desired object arrives. Should get it Tuesday.

Here's the email from the vendor:

Thank you for contacting The Spyderco Store. Yes we have in stock the 2014
model with the flat ground blade. We are in the process of updating the
store now. If you are interested in making a purchase I would recommend you
do prior to Sunday because the 2014 pricing is going into effect that
evening. Again thank you for contacting The Spyderco Store and your business
would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Dave Jones

So the 2014 pricing for all knives Spyderco is generally going to be increased over the 2013 prices ?

Good question. That is the impression I got from that email. I don't think they would just change the price on one item, could be wrong.

Oh. I just logged on to the vendor's site, and pretty much everything that I looked at had gone up significantly, at least the stuff that I remembered the price of from last week. Leaky vessel. So the good folks at Spydercostore.com have already done at least a significant part of their price changing.

Brad Southard folder $239.95 at SpydercoStore. Just received my new 2014 Manix 2 today, it is FFG indeed. It went up about $4-5 after I ordered mine, not too bad I guess. It's my second Spyderco blade, third if you count the little Byrd Robin 2 G10 I got recently. I'm quite fond of all three, my first one is a Manix 2 XL, not as much of a pocketful as you might think because the extra length is all above the clip hanging out of the pocket. Clever. Other than the bit of extra at the back, the smaller Manix 2's handle feels just the same as it's big brother. Familiarity breeds contentment in this case!

BTW, that Robin has the sharpest point I have ever seen on a knife! I took it out of its box, used it to open another package and just barely touched it to my left index finger... It was enough. Very small hole, fortunately.

Comparing MSRP to "street price" is apples to oranges. Spydercos sell for at least 40% off. Not even close to a Sebenza.

Nope since where I live the street price for the Southoard is MSRP (actually it's even more). Not everybody lives in the US and gets these great deals. MSRP is there for a reason. There are dealers that actually charge it ;).
