Has anybody here had a salt folder ffg'd by Tom Krein? I have a yellow PE pac salt that I love and was wondering if anybody has had this done to theirs? thanks for any replies :D

I just had my Salt 1 sent to Tom Krein for a FFG.

I do plan to post some impressions soon but I'll give you a quick rundown.

- It's now one heck of a slicer.
- The distal taper is more extreme than other Spyderco FFG knives. Thus, there's a little flex at the tip.
- I used the Salt 1 to cut old bedroom carpet and it performed like a champ. I didn't stab with it but I didn't need to.
- It was much easier to regrind the bevel to 30 degrees inclusive after it was very dull than I thought it'd be.

Hope that helps. :D

riz_aaroni and d1omedes, thanks much for the replies doods, both were very helpful! the spyderco sub forum is my favorite place here on blade forums! nice people, awesome knives, all kinds of knowledge and info to be had!:cool:

Definitely a good sub-forum. You're welcome for the reply. Wouldn't mind having a krein salt myself. How much does it cost btw D1omedes?

I just sent another waved Endura and Pacific Salt to Tom.
Cost is $35 each + $10 shipping.

How come Spyderco says they cannot flat grind h1? I seem to remember them saying
something to that effect?

because the steel is work hardening the excessive grinding that would be needed for a FFG would actually make the steel unworkable. something like that

well, not Krein'd but FFG anyway :)
