Hi Everybody,
I had a few orders to fill for the FHFG RMD
so as I was getting those done I made a few extras along with the custom orders.
Man oh man this FHFG RMD is cool.
I have always loved Full Hight Flat Ground blades, I just think they work much better all around for camp work like; sharpening sticks, making fuzz sticks, dressing animals and chopping wood.
It is a bit different than the regular CG RMD though.
the scales are slightly thicker, just slightly though like .010" really
my RMD is about .715" at the thickest part near the first tube
and my FHFG RMD is about .725"
The blade shape is only very slightly different (a little more belly) but that does not effect the fit.
The biggest difference is the shaping of the scales.
The FHFG RMD scales are more square rather than the almost hand-shaped scales on the CG RMD which are much more rounded off.
The handle tubes are also in a different place more closer spaced together than the CG RMD
So what does this mean ??
The sheaths for the FHFG RMD and the sheaths for the CG RMD are different.
will they work, yes............... kind of;
putting a CG RMD in a sheath made for the FHFG RMD will be a little loose but will work.
putting a FHFG RMD in a sheath made for a CG RMD will be tight on the scales and flare out the sheath . But will still work.
so If you can order the correct sheath for the correct knife.
but if you can not the ones I make will work, but not fit perfect if you order it for the wrong model.
By the way, my FHFG RMD sheaths fit both coated and UN-coated models
Clear as mudd ?
Cool here are some pics
