Hello

I have a Colemen tent with fiberglass tent poles and one section onr the tent pole ablout 6" in legnth split. It is ath the end of the section that goes into the metal collar of the next pole.

I was wondering if there was a reliable way of fixing it, if not if anyone could recommend where I could get a reliable replacement. as this is the second time it has happened in 3 years and I do not really want another Coleman pole.

I have another tent with with fiberglass poles that I had for about 20 years and never had this issue.

Has anyone else ran into this issue with Coleman tents? If so what did you do to resolve the issue?

Thanks
Eddie

Do you have a REI store near you?
I think that they can either repair the broken pole by replacing the broken section. They may also be able to build a complete new section.

Walmart sells the fiberglass poles in the camping section - cheap - good luck.

put broken part into an adequate size of metal (aluminum or brass) tube and fix them with
adhesive tape.

I'd scrap the poles completely and invest in some aluminum ones. I've found two abandoned tents so far this year with fractured glass poles. I hauled the first one out rather than leaving it there as a big nasty blue rotting ants nest. Ever the opportunist I thought I'd try making something else from bits of the poles. I chose the sections closest to the floor figuring they would have been stressed least. Two sections fractured on me with little encouragement. Frankly, I think glass poles meet their limit with a festival tent you throw away at the end.

I fixed mine with duct tape.

+1. I have a Coleman tent I've had for almost ten years that split a pole about a year ago. Duct tape seems to keep it together. I'd rather buy a new pole, but I'm not sure I can find one that will work right.

You can go to a hardware store and buy sections of fiberglass rod with metal fittings for chimney sweep tools. Modify it to whatever length you want. If you cut the rod or grind it, beware of the dust.
