First up fit and finish, Excellent like always from Andy. I usually look at two things the pins on the handle and the mirrored contours, it was dead on. The sheath is from JRE first one of his fit is good liked how far the handle is out of the sheath for ease of access.

Kitchen cutting tasks, all knives should be able to do basic kitchen tasks in my opinion. It cut both the onion and the pepper well again very wide for a kitchen knife.

Next up, what it was designed for. Cleaning some bark of, nice long pieces very sharp worked excellent. Then some batoning, first time batoning with a scandi grind but with the thickness of the knife it had no problem. This thing could to a little chopping if needed. It pealed off feather sticks with ease.

Now a little fatwood, again did a few shavings then some fine fuzz with the squared spine. A couple blasts with the fire steel and there she goes. Now for the tent peg. Worked well at notching it bites very deep no problem. Cut the point with ease.

Over all a very fine package, the only thing that I would have changed is that the handle would be wider with more contouring. It seemed narrow in the hand and I could feel it digging in to my palm in an uncomfortable way. Other than that its perfect.

And yes it's still shaving hair.

Hey! Thanks for the review. I'm glad its serving you well. Those are 1/4" thick scales. I get a lot of guys who want thicker handles, and this can be done in an order.

I've been wondering about Scandi's in the kitchen. I wonder how they'd do a carrot, for example.

man i knew i should have bought his burlap scandi he had a couple days ago. blah just have to wait for the next ones. he seems to make a killer knife and i need one i suppose

Great lookin knife and nice review.
I would like to see all these reviews have
a shot of knife in hand.
This knife seemed to me to be much smaller to me
until you posted the in hand photos.
Very deceiving when a knife it pictured with
some feather stick shots and nothing else in frame...

Andy, I think that a scandi edge would work well in the kitchen. It needs to be a lot thinner than this blade is. This blade cuts for a ways then splits the rest of the hard food (potato or carrot)off.
 
Nice review. You asked for suggestions in the future. After reading another thread, I'd REALLY like to see a knife review include pictures of the knife owner refusing to lend his knife to a guy who is without one because he felt he could borrow one on the trail.

I've had my KPH for four months or so, and I am still struck by the precision and artistry of the blade grinds, as well as the handle form. Makes cutting down and through so sure, and pushing into joints for bone separation a breeze.

Very nice knife and review. Thank you.
