Hey everyone. We've tried to step up to the plate and help Andy out by putting in a fair size purchase order for his knives. We just got in 18 amazing looking knives today from that first order.
What I wanted to know from the guys buying the knives, if you'd rather have the regular white box we pack the knives in or a US made padded zipper case. Answer in the poll and comment please. we'll get this batch done accordingly.

The case wouldn't make the price go up to the buyer either, it was an idea I had to give a little something extra with our Fiddleback orders.

Hey Eric,
First of all, thanks for asking :-)

Question: Is this poll for Productions or Customs?

Reason for asking is that I bought one of the Production Bushcraft Puukko's directly from the Forge and it came in a nice white Fiddleback box (maybe like you're referring to) with some nice extras. But when I buy a more costly Custom, it comes simply wrapped in the standard wrapping paper with no box or extras. Although this did surprise me a bit that the lower cost knife would be shipped in a nicer manner, at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. I am picky with my Spyderco boxes and keep them nice whether they're for collecting or if I want to sell them someday. Given that most of my Fiddlebacks come directly and are Custom with no boxes, I don't have an expectation for Dealer purchases. A zippered case might be nice for protection so I'll answer "padded case". In the interest of keeping everyone's cost down, I would have picked the 3rd option if it was there. Option 3 - Neither, but ship it to arrive safely please.

Thanks

As long as there isn't a loose knife thrown haphazardly in a USPS box (this happened, but not at DLT) I'm good :)

That said, I voted box because I can recycle them. No use for the case.

First priority is receiving the knife in "forge fresh" shape, well packaged and sent securely. I recently picked up the corian runt from DLT and I actually like the white boxes - nice quality and great to reuse on the flea market here. That said, I certainly don't want someone loosing out on a freebie padded case, especially if its good quality worthy of a custom Fiddleback, so I voted for the cases.

More importanly for Eric though - when is that batch going to hit DLT's website ;)

I vote box. I personally would have no use for the padded case... doesn't stack or store well. I could use the box to store it's knife or other knives and might come in handy with packaging if ever sell the knife down the road.

Padded cases are for safe queens not real use knives... just sayin'

I would say padded case only because you can get repeated use out of it and a padded case comes in handy at times when making purchases at an event like Blade, storing before you can get a sheath made, throwing in a glove box or sending it through the mail. The box, while a more visually appealing presentation when initially opening lasts about ten seconds before hitting the recycle bin. Just my $.02.

This would be for customs. All of the production knives come to us in nice boxes already. For the customs we use white boxes that are actually made local to us. The knife is then wrapped in a few layers of tissue paper and put together with the sheath in that box. That box is always put inside another proper sized back for shipping.

The case was my idea since we just got them in last week, but the owner here is like many of the guys commenting. He likes to keep the boxes from everything he buys and thinks they stack nice.

We'll make our decision today and get this new batch listed.

I vote case, I already have a closet full of white knife boxes Lol. If it doesn't change the price a case to me provides much more value than some cardboard that's going to go in the bin eventually if not right away.

The price wouldn't change from us. We were able to buy in bulk for these cases so we got a good deal, and on top of that they are actually made here in the USA.

Box please... My wife is a 'boxaholic'. Every time I give her a knife box, she gets so excited about the box, she forgets that I just spent hundreds on a knife. Works like a charm. Wouldn't work at all with a padded case... :D

Case for me. I don't have specific sheaths for each knife , but for various blade sizes. A case provides a safe way to travel when I want to take multiple knives. Great gesture on DLT and Eric if you do it.

We've made the decision to put all of the knives in boxes as usual, but we'd still like to give a case to anyone who requests one on our custom Fiddlebacks. All you'd have to do is include the request in our comment section when checking out or mention it to the rep for call in orders.

Thanks to all who voted but especially to everyone who commented.
