I am in the market for a fixed blade EDC from Andy. Can someone recommend a smallish EDC for a guy with l to xl hands ?

There are a few I like. I currently edc a Handyman. What style of uses? As in edc urban or rural? Do you prefer more pointy or more belly?

Thanks Mist - a bit of a mix of urban & rural. I always carry a pocketknife of some sort but the axis locks on the Benchmade's have pissed me off for the last time so nothing but fixed blades going forward. I use my pocket knives anytime I go out to bars, clubs & restaurants, around the house to open letters, packages, boxes, bags of mulch, food packaging from the grocery store. When I go to the hunting lease which is about once a month I use my knife for food prep, food consumption, gutting and skinning deer, hogs & turkey

I had a beautiful hunter of Andy but lost it and then found it a bit later but it hand been run over by my truck looking for it... The ergonomics on the hunter handle are just great but I need something much smaller to EDC

If you want something similar to the Hunter, but much smaller, you might look at a Bushnub.

I'll check out the handyman & bush nub - thanks very much ! I can never make the Friday sales as I am always on a plane heading back home from somewhere on Friday's so I'll have to find one as one of Andy's dealers. Thanks again much appreciated

Welcome Coltman. Your question is a popular subject around here.

I recommend that you read through the "Models, Tang Types, Steel Thicknesses, & Weights" thread on this forum. Mistwalker and I and many others have posted some good data there that you will probably find useful in deciding which model(s) are right for you. Here is a link to that thread:

I agree with Mistwalker’s recommendation that you look at the Handyman. It has a 3-1/4” blade and just under 4-1/2” handle. That is a good handle length for a four finger grip with an XL size hand. I fear the Bushnub handle may be too short for your liking. I have medium to large hands and I prefer the Patch or Hiking Buddy over the Bushnub in the smaller 3” blade knife category.

Good luck with your search. Please keep us posted what you decide on. Of course pictures with be required. :)

I'm with these guys, the Handyman is an edc model, but the handle allows maximum use per the length, and its a bit longer than the Hiking Buddy, Edc, or any of that size in my line. It was a bit of a departure from my standard size factor for that knife.

If Mist, Comp & "The Man" Andy all recommend the Handyman then no sense in even comparing other models I'll just find me a Handyman - thank you for the information & recommendation kind sirs.

I will get another Hunter someday too as man that was one sweet knife and the handle just melted in to my hand. I've been hoping I see a kitchen knife (Padre ?) come up for sale too as I would use that every single day. I really don't think many folks understand how truly comfortable Andy shapes his handles and if you spend an hour cleaning a hog with tough a tough hid people would understand what an artist Andy really is.

Thanks again guys

Coltman, along with the excellent dealers, you might also check the Fiddleback for sale thread in this forum for some previous loved examples.

I gotta jump on the handyman bandwagon. I have two and love them both. The hiking buddy is great too, but I'm more between a medium and large size hand, so the hiking buddy is just a touch snug.

If the blade didn't break you can probably send it to Andy for some TLC...

I don't have a Handyman as of yet, so I can't comment on it, however I would recommend a Toboggan.

It's got a quite a long handle to blade ratio compared to the other Fiddlebacks I've handled with similar overall lengths. Great for getting a solid four finger grip on an EDC.

I've got 3 Handymen and have xl hands. It's my favorite for edc in my inside pocket clip sheath.
