I have had this for sale on my other sales - but wanted to section it off here because I want to sell just the blade for anyone who is interested. I have some other things I would like to buy (more tools - more leather... as usual!) so I would like to offer this package in parts.

Here is a custom Arete and sheath from the designer of the Arete and Andy Roy!

a) Andy Roy Fiddleback Arete with brown and black burlap micarta with black and white liners in 1/8th inch 01 steel. Never been used or even stropped.
b) Diomedes Industries sheath with removable dangler and firesteel holder. 8-10 ounce leather in hand dyed british tan.
c) Custom Firesteel. 3/8th inch by 3.5 inch firesteel set in an axis handle with a buffalo horn top and a stainless steel lanyard tube to match the bullseye tube in the Arete also made by Diomedes Industries.

You have here a complete bushcraft, woods, and hunting package that is set for the trail the minute you unbox it.

P.S. I would also entertain a trade for Terrasaur that tickled my fancy as well. I have never owned one - and always wanted to. ;)

Both are very nice! But I already have an Arete that I love :) I'll land the right sheath for it eventually.

Mist,

If you just knew someone who could make a nice sheath for you. ;)

Jason

Yeah, It needs to be one of your sheaths for this one to be right in my book. It's a special knife and it needs the right sheath. I have been keeping my eyes open on your threads, and eyeballing #6 pretty hard. I think it needs to be a deep rich color for the handle to pop right, but I have a matching ferro rod for it so I need some sort of ferro rod loop to go with it. Work just picked up again for me and I picked up to new publications to write for, but I had to make some investments in new equipment to do it. Middle of next month should be pretty good for me, and hopefully sooner if you could have something like that by then it would be awesome. I have a gathering to go to up in Vonore TN on the 15-17 and I'd love to be sporting this one in some nice leather when Ethan checks it out :)

Maybe I can help. Jason's sheaths are very nice. Wonderful leather and stitching. Here's some pics of 2 color variations. Brown Micarta in a Brown sheath, A Philleow in British Tan, and an Emerald in the B Tan. Colors are a bit washed out here, the emerald's prettier in person and quite nice in the tan, to my eye:

Mist,

Let me know. I can always custom dye a color for you and build a custom sheath for you - with dangler and firesteel option.

Your call - I need some time to get it on the bench (I have a few custom builds right now - including one for TomR2) but you chose what colour you want - the stitch colour (I have about 8 different stitch colors) and I will get to work. Let me know.

Thanks man. I already know what wonderful work Jason does, and he already knows that I know this. :D Our timing just keeps getting screwed up. Seems like when he has wares available I am either busy relocating or just invested everything I had to play with and then some into endeavors I hope to pay off in the future, and when I have money he is busy relocating of with other projects. But I knew when I got the Arete it would all fall together soon enough :)

Sounds good to me Jason, and the timing sounds like it should work out ok this time as well. I just know that I want one of your sheaths for this one, in a deep brown to make the emerald pop and also stand out here in my environment of deciduous forest and lots of fallen leaves. With a fire steel loop for the matching rod. A removable dangler would be very nice for times I am wearing a pack. As far as stitching goes I'd be ok with a light tan to match the accents of natural canvas liners, pins, and bullseye of this knife or a dark brown to go with the sheath either one. Give me a heads up when you get close and I'll get you paid :)

How would this Arete work for someone with X-large hands? I currently use an Lt. Wright GNS and it is ergonomic but just doesn't fill my hand.
