The knives just got here the other day and I'm rushing them to the sheath maker so I can take them into the field (the kraft paper and jute sheaths Andy sends are great until it rains).:D I just wanted to post a few pictures and my first impressions. More to come in the near future.

The Bow Legged Chopper is a big knife as you can see compared to the Bow Legged Joe. The BLC has a 10" blade and is .25" thick. It has a convex edge and the scales are shaped to keep the knife in your hand during heavy chopping. Andy added a few special features to this one including custom Shadetree scales (thanks Todd) and a crazy bright glow in the dark bulls eye.

Here is a picture of the BLC by itself. The grinds are very nice and the time Andy put into the custom scales by Shadetree is obvious.

I know a lot of people think a think a .25" inch knife can't be that sharp. Here is a picture for you (that is a 8.5"x11" piece of paper).

Thanks Andy and Todd, it turned out great.

Those phenolics from Todd were a dream to work with. Really love the burlap. I'm doing three of those choppers for the vegas show, and one of them will sport that awesome stuff there. The other is 1/4" regular burlap over black canvas micarta, and then a straight natural canvas micarta one.

Neato stuff! Its a fun knife to make after the initial grinds. But the initial grinding is painful!

The BLC looks outstanding, Andy!! GREAT work!! I better get on that list if it's not too late. What does Todd call the scale material on this particular knife? To me it looks a lot like the old German woodland camo colors....just in a different pattern. The red and black really sets it off!

nice pair. I Know you guys are thinking big chopper, but I flashed on veggi and steak stir fry. maybe just a bit peckish, though between the two of those I could get rid of most of my kitchen knives.

Man, I love that blade...:thumbup:

Me too.

Freakin awesome!

Thanks

Damn that's a beast! Looks rad.

Cuts better than it looks.

Got so excited I think I pooed a little. Gotta get me one of those.

Two words, hand sanitizer.:D

Those scales are some of the nicest I've ever seen !!!!!

Thanks to Todd at Shadetree.

Another "winner" from Andy Roy.

No surprise.;)

I agree OP.

The layers and the glow are awesome.

It is custom scales, but I'm sure Todd at Shadetree could duplicate it.

They are definitely capable of any kitchen duty that I can think of.
