Always wanted a Fiddleback. I seem to always be too late or too broke when they are available. I happen to have just checked Andy's section and bam there was a new batch with no responses yet. I called dibs with some help and grabbed a Bushfinger with Maroon scales, natural canvas liners and white stripes. She is 5/32'' O1 steel with convex saber grind.
First thing I noticed was this thing has the best handle I have ever touched. Amazing. The knife is heftier than I tought but perfect in the hand and well balanced. There are no sharp edges at all and fit and finish is so good, the knife could bring in more money. I love the spalting and the Fiddleback logo, bullseye lanyard and Andy Roy markings on this knife. Very sweet details of understated elegance yet you know this knife is a workhorse.
The sheath is very simple but made extremely well and is of thick stock and comfortable to wear. It rides low and has a belt loop large enough to fit most normal belts.
I only have about an hour of use on it and just around the yard and cutting limes at the restaurant I work at. The knife is so nice in the hand in all positions, I could see myself using it all day without fatigue.
I can't say much more because my time has been limited so far and my technique and knowledge is too lacking for me to get into detail without looking stupid. I am thoroughly impressed so far and can't wait to use and abuse her more. This is definitely one of the nicest knives I own. I'll be back for more Andy.
