Hello Folks,

This is round three of the Fiddleback Forge comparison photos. I have added the Arete and Kephart as well as additional Terrassaurs, a Bushcrafter, and a Hunter. I also included 'knife in the hand' shots. All of the knives have been lined up by placing the beginning of the cutting edge on the 6 inch mark of the cutting map.

If it helps, I wear a size 9 in Hestra gloves. Listed below is Hestra's glove size guide.

· Hand Length: (Mine is 7.6 inches)
o Measure from tip of your longest finger to base of your palm, where it meets your wrist.
· Hand Circumference: (Mine is 8.5 inches)
o Measure around your hand at the widest point excluding the thumb.

I hope you find this thread useful. Enjoy.

Sincerely,
Mark

Hello Folks,

To help with model identification in post #1, I have listed the knives shown in the first photo right under "And so it begins." In order from left to right on the top mat we have the 3-Finger Joe, Bushboot, Hikingbuddy x2, KE Bushie, Arete x2, Kephart, and Bushfinger x3. In order from left to right on the bottom mat we have the Bushcrafter x2, Terrassaur x3, Ladyfinger, and Hunter x2.

*Knife Thickness Correction* Sorry Folks
All knives are 5/32" inch thick except for the Scandi-grind Arete in Natural Canvas and the Scandi-grind Terrassaur in Natural Canvas which are 1/8" thick, and the Bushfinger in Black Canvas which is 3/16" inch thick. Additionally, all the knives are O-1 Tool Steel except for the Ladyfinger which is CPM-154.

I have included some more photos of the Arete and Kephart. I am really fond of these two!

Mark

Great collection and thanks for posting the comparison pics. That took considerable time to set up and photo. I only have one FB now, an EDC, but always have my eye out for the next. I thought I wanted the bushfinger, but after seeing the pics, I think the Arete might be for me. Now to find one with a high convex grind and S35V.....What would you say is the role of the Arete? (bushcraft, hunting/skinning, camp, all-arounder, ?)

Todd

Thank you! I had been wanting to see a photo with a Kephart and bushfinger in it.

A lot of great knives. Emerald burlap is generally my favorite, but there is something about that mint terrasaur that puts it over the top. Wow!

Of all your Fiddlebacks, I think the black Bushfinger with blue liner is my favorite. I really like that handle combo. Very slick!

Thanks for the pics.

Hi Todd,

Thank you for your reply. You are right in that it takes considerable time to complete the whole process. But I think it is worth it as it gives folks an opportunity to compare Andy's models side-by-side. Do you see the consistency in his work? Absolutely mind-boggling! Unbelievable. :)

I think the knife would be quite at home in most any outdoor, bushcraft type setting. It is quite comfortable and controllable in the hand. I cannot speak to hunting/skinning though as I have no practical experience with the knife in those situations.

Thank you ITF,

I really like the Mint Terrassaur as well. It is dynamite!

Your Welcome Sergio!

wow. Mark, thanks for all the effort. Your comparison photos really do help all of us buyers out here figure some things out.

I suppose you will do it all again when you add the Woodsman? (kidding) Seriously, thanks. I really like the look of the Kephart more and more and your shots helped with that.

Hi CT,

You're welcome. I am glad you found this helpful. The Kephart is sure to be hit!

I LOVE these threads; always such a treat to get to see so many great fiddleback pics in one place. Next best thing, I can think of, to actually having them all in person. Fantastic Mark!!!

I don't know how I've done it, but I've got a few more on the way; can't wait to do my own little comparison.

Thanks again Mark!!

Ps. do you own all these ones?? If you don't mind me asking that is...

Have a good one

Wow, a great collection, thanks for taking the time! I especially love that KE Bushie; if you ever feel like selling it.. :)

You are quite welcome. I cannot wait to see your knives and comparison photos! FBF Rocks!

I do not mind you asking or replying...I own them all.

You're quite welcome too GG. Copy on the KE!

what no recluse? great collection and shots. thanks

You're quite welcome DD. No Recluse as of yet. Every time Andy offers one, I find another knife in the batch I like as well and the Recluse gets bumped down the list. :( One of these days though! :)

That is so wicked that you have all those knives!! Amazing collection you got going!!!

I know what you mean about knives getting bumped down the the list. There are so many Fiddleback models I would like to have, and plan to;
I'm always saying "ok, next one will be a ..." and then I'll see something else I want and end up buying it instead.

Can't wait to post up some pics too!!!

Have a good night
