I really like the looks of the Arete. Does anyone know how long it takes to get one? Do you all like it or his bushcrafter better?

Andy isn't taking orders any more - but every Friday in his sub section - check it out - he has batches for sale.

I designed the Arete - so of course I am partial - but I designed it with bushcraft in mind. I have both the Convex and the Scandi and both perform very well. The hunter is wider in the blade and it more of a drop point than a spear point. For hunting tasks I think it has the Arete beat - the belly really helps. For bushcraft - I think the edge goes to the Arete.

However - check out the Lady Finger and the Recluse - those designs are nice as well.

And ... I'm partial to his Woodsman. But I also have the Recluse and a 'few' others.;)

Been thinking about picking up the Arete myself.

Doesn't KnivesShipFree also handle Fiddleback knives? I'd check out their site, as well.

Andy Roy (Fiddleback) makes outstanding working knives. His handles, in particular, are absolutely top-notch.

Sisk - if you pick up an Arete - and you are interested - I will make you a sheath at my normal cost. No need to send it to me - I have two as blanks. If not - check out the other sheath makers on Andy's site - they make good looking leather too.

J. Oeser not only makes a mean knife - but GREAT looking leather for Andy's stuff. There is a lot of options.

p.s. I hope that doesn't violate any rules - I don't THINK it does - but if it does - please let me know - and I will withdraw.

Thanks for the offer! Im going to pick one up sooner or later. Thats my favorite of Andy's models. I just need to find one for sale. And... i need to find some cash.. :D

To stay on topic, i had one of Andy's Bushcrafters, best knife ive ever owned. I stupidly traded it a while back. I felt bad putting the knife through my usual bushcrafting because it was so nice. Now that its gone, I realize that was a pretty dumb excuse to give up such a great blade... so im looking for another Fiddleback! Ive gotta sell some crap first..

Andy Roy's work is outstanding. If you want and Arete, go for the one on the exchange and go for it quick. I don't suspect it will last long. His knives appear to be highly sought after and the line is getting longer. I have found out the hard way too many times, if you see one you like, snag it fast!

So far, I have a Fiddleback Hiking Buddy, Hunter, and Bushfinger. They all outshine any production knife I have owned. Personally, I value what is custom and hand made far above what is kicked out of a factory by machines. Go for it dude. I will be surprised if you regret it.......
