J.B. Knifeworks Shady Baby - Bloodwood - Bloodwood - Thick Black Liners - Yellow Pinstripes - 3” Blade - 7.375” OAL - 7/64” CPM 154 - SFT - Flat Grind - 191210 14 - $350

How Fiddleback Friday Works

The rules are quite simple. Once the knives post, the first person to the checkout process gets the knife. There are no limits to how many you can buy. However, it may take you longer to put 3 knives in your cart than it takes 3 other people to checkout with only 1 knife. Unsold knives will stay here until Thursday of the following week. They will still be on the site listed with other https://fiddlebackforge.com/collections/handmade

Shipping

Our checkout accepts both PayPal or credit cards. In the USA, there is free USPS First Class shipping for any order over $150. You can pay to upgrade to Priority Shipping during checkout if you'd like to. International is up to $50 USD per order for USPS Priority International Mail. Rate depends on country. We ship next business day after purchase. We ship Monday-Friday unless there's a national holiday or something unforeseen occurs.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

ive been hanging onto that Monarch, it was hard to let it leave the shop for sure

I don't blame you, that's my fav Monarch so far, even if it doesn't have a swedge :D That handle is amazing! The Arete is nice too, as is the CR-1. I think that is my fav SB Joey has done so far. I think I'd really like that model, or maybe it's larger counterpart, hopefully some day I'll be able to afford to find out.

That Minnow looks great! Too bad Christmas shopping has me tapped out. Maybe Santa is listening and will hook me up.

Vance - I don't know if I could work in a place like Fiddleback Forge as I would be collecting more pieces than I already am (far more than I would know what to do with)!! Like many here I have a love and appreciation for the blood sweat and tears that go into making hand made works of art that these knives certainly are.

My attention to Fiddleback Forge came out of that recent Federal Marshalls' auction (Gaston & Sheehan), which I have followed for years. I certainly feel awful for the gentleman who had multiple items forcibly sold, but to the positive it did wind up bringing me here.

Just so you know, I look forward each week to watching your video and learning - so a thumbs up from me to keep on with the good work. (I also have been reading a lot of the info that is here from many of the writers in the group. I appreciate their generosity of sharing their insights and knowledge as well their time in making these posts). My recent purchase of the Desert Ironwood Seax Tasker from the website was directly due to the information posted by Mr. Griffin as well as some research into the history of the Seax blade (which I admit I previously knew nothing about).

As a final note - miserable rainy day with holiday traffic here in NYC. Had looked over the lots earlier and while I loved the Monarch, I wasn't expecting to go after any of the knives as I knew I would be traveling home at that time. Finished work at 845PM. Heading to subway - duck out of the rain and into a building atrium. Download the fiddleback app to my phone - boot it up - Battery 10% - 901PM Select the monarch - start the checkout process - all data entered - hit 'PAY' - Phone goes dead! Oh well - onward - miss my planned train home - at home destination wait in the now pouring rain for a cab home (no phone now with which to call !). Settle down at home - check my e-mails - and seems that I'm going to be the proud owner of a gorgeous new Fiddleback Monarch!

Regards,
Gary

Hello Gary and welcome! Congratulations on the new Monarch, that one sure is gorgeous. I carried Andy's personal Monarch for a while shortly after he first released that model to get a feel for it and see if it would knock the Bushboot out of the saddle as my fav urban EDC. While I do like the Monarch very much, especially in the day hiking role, the Bushboot still remains my fav for daily carry in my current world. As you may have noticed if you've read through the articles I write for the Fiddleback Website. I try to balance things out, but with my spending so much of my time in urbanized environments the last few years, my Bushboots seem to appear in my work than any other model because they have been a favorite EDC since Andy released the model about 9 years ago I think, and I often carry one because it suits more of my thoughts on knife use in urbanized terrain. Whichever Bill this was, he had several Monarchs in his collection, and he had a couple of Bushboots I saw on ebay that I wised i could have afforded.

I'm really glad you enjoyed the write up on the Seax Tasker. The Seax blade blade pattern is a very old one. It was favored by the Norse explorers, and is effective in utility as well as fighting and usually pretty easy to maintain which is probably why they liked it so much. I prefer the Seax element of the parang machete because it offers more reach in effective cutting of vines and bamboo rather than glancing out of a longer cut in harder materials the way a Latin style machete will, then I pair it with something smaller for knife work requiring a bellied blade. During some times of conflict in my youth I even modified a couple of other knives into reverse tanto or essentially seax blade profiles because of reading of their effectiveness in history books years before. I also love Andy's Gnome pattern for an EDC as well though, and his Seax Tasker reminded me of a stretched version of his Gnome the first time I saw it. I borrowed one of those for to study and used in in an article a couple of years ago, and I hope to some day get one of those as well.
