How Fiddleback Friday Works

The rules are quite simple. Once the knives post, the first person to the checkout process gets the knife. There are no limits to how many you can buy. However, it may take you longer to put 3 knives in your cart than it takes 3 other people to checkout with only 1 knife. Unsold knives will stay here until Thursday of the following week. They will still be on the site listed with other https://fiddlebackforge.com/collections/handmade

Shipping

Our checkout accepts both PayPal or credit cards. In the USA, there is free USPS First Class shipping for any order over $150. You can pay to upgrade to Priority Shipping during checkout if you'd like to. International is up to $50 USD per order for USPS Priority International Mail. Rate depends on country. We ship next business day after purchase. We ship Monday-Friday unless there's a national holiday or something unforeseen occurs.

The CR-1 is very intriguing to me. I’m not familiar with that model at all. Does anyone have any experience with it that they’d like to share?

I have one, and I think it's a great all around knife. A touch large for what I prefer in an edc, but perfect as a general pupose, hunting, outdoor knife.

I love the handle. The finger hump really has to be held to be appreciated. The purchase, and leverage you get with it is impressive(especially with push cuts imo). As a matter of preference, I typically prefer a bit more handle to blade on a knife of this size, but the ratio works for me with this model.
A (for some) minor observation: Ascetically, it has some of the sweetest lines of any fiddleback knife. It's a real winner.

Thank you, that’s some great insight. Like you I was just concerned with it’s size for EDC since I live in an suburban setting, but out in the woods I can see it performing camp and fishing tasks well. I’m looking for a Fiddleback to take deer hunting with me and while this looks pretty good I can’t help but wonder if that Toboggan would be more at home processing a deer with that upswept blade. Thanks again for your input.

Compared to many of the folks who post here, I'm a relative neophyte when it comes to fiddleback knives. So even though I have a collection that has grown with troubling speed, it is by no means comprehensive. There are others here who have familiarity with nearly every model...I do not. I do however process a lot of deer. A lot.

Off and on, beginning in the late 80's, I have been responsible(along with a dozen others) for filling deer damage tags for a resort, and several farms in SE WV(the meat is donated to Hunters Helping the Hungry). Depending on the year, the number of deer l will personally process, between crop damage and hunting, could approach triple digits.

I only mention all this so you have an idea of where I'm coming from regarding a deer hunting knife.

Of the fiddleback models I've used to date, the two that have stood out as knives for deer processing are the Toboggan, and Pack Rat.

IMO, you would be well served by either. If I could only have one(crazy talk), for deer hunting, it would be the Toboggan. It would not be my "one knife to rule them all," if there ever was such a thing, but it is my favorite fiddleback model for that. JMO.

As a side note: Although I haven't aquired one yet, there are a couple of Joey's knives that look to me like they would be incredible for deer processing.

Great info man, thank you! You’re lucky to be able to take so many deer! I just started deer hunting this year so I’m still waiting for my first one. My schedule doesn’t allow me a lot of time to hunt but I enjoy being outside and I figured I might as well have a Fiddleback with me while I freeze haha. I live near Cincinnati and we have some decent public hunting grounds around here but I’m hoping to find some private land for next year.

You're welcome.

I count myself fortunate to be able to spend most of my time outdoors(for work, and recreation). I have loved hunting for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, the deer damage work isn't so much hunting as killing(not really enjoyable), but it has to be done for the health of our deer herds, and the meat goes to good use.

Congratulations on getting into hunting. You sure are in good country for it(1 of your deer might equal 2 of ours). You are on the right track with a Fiddleback I can promise you that!
