I love making knives for you all. Thanks to everyone for supporting Fiddleback Forge. Its an amazing feeling to do this for a living. Fiddleback Forge depends on y’all, and we hope you love the tool you buy from us.
This week we made the biggest batch of knives we’ve ever made. 38 knives. Check out the bolsters Ken is doing. This team is really getting good and its getting fun. Except the sharpening part I mean. Have you ever sharpened 38 knives. I do this by hand, and it isn’t part of the process I have felt comfortable letting anyone do to my work. So think about me on Monday and Tuesday morning at between 5:00 and 8:00.
The steel this week is 3D Spalted 01 steel and CPM 154 with Fiddleback Textured Flats.
Please note that the SS is a big thicker than the measurement I order because most folks surface grind to size. So this means 1/8” thick blades are really ~0.140” thick.
Payment may be made to Paypal, or by personal check or MO. I hold all personal checks until they have cleared. This usually doesn’t cause a delay because they usually clear before shipping day.
Attention!!! The paypal address is: fiddlebackpayments at att dot net. Please describe your purchase in the payment notes.
Shipping is included within the US. Ken has taken over the shipping department and we are going to be setting up a special e-mail address for all questions or concerns regarding shipping. I’ll give that out when the new website is launced.
Only four small ones this week. I love how handy these are. You never have to be without a fixed blade knife. You never have to worry about your folder failing.

Sneaky Sneaky. The versatility of this line is neat to me. The Sneaky Pete has been my carry knife since the Guild show in September. Then I made myself an Asp last week. I immediately cut myself with it too, and now I really love the knife. Drew blood before it was ever sheathed. This Scorpion is made from 3/16 “ (THICK) steel with a tapered tang. Woot.

So ever since I designed the Shank I’ve been told again and again that it needed a pronounced guard. It was designed after a sharpened shard of steel kind of rustic knife in the move Gangs of New York. And in the scene it was held against the throat, and not thrust. I still like the Shank, But I drew it up with that pronounced guard and it looked crazy. I thought I make it anyway, and it really came alive for me in steel. Kind of reminds me of a stinger. So, I’m calling it the Wasp! The Wasp is 8” long with a 4.25” long handle. Check out Ken’s Lacewood bolstered scale setup! Nice work my friend.
