How Fiddleback Friday Works

The rules are quite simple. Once the knives post, the first person to the checkout process gets the knife. There are no limits to how many you can buy. However, it may take you longer to put 3 knives in your cart than it takes 3 other people to checkout with only 1 knife. Unsold knives will stay here until Thursday of the following week. They will still be on the site listed with other https://fiddlebackforge.com/collections/handmade

Shipping

Our checkout accepts both PayPal or credit cards. In the USA, there is free USPS First Class shipping for any order over $150. You can pay to upgrade to Priority Shipping during checkout if you'd like to. International is up to $50 USD per order for USPS Priority International Mail. Rate depends on country. We ship next business day after purchase. We ship Monday-Friday unless there's a national holiday or something unforeseen occurs.

WOW!! What a batch of knves! Damn that Bullfrog is gorgeous, as are the Solo and the Nora!! That Boning knife looks awesome too, brings back memories of helping dad process deer years ago. I still need to get of of Joey's Shadys some day.

Brian, my cryoed s35vn Heat treat consistently comes out at 61.5-62 HRC. It’s an amazing steel. Perfect balance of edge retention and ease of sharpening.
Yeah, with all the knives I've tested of it for various magazines I've written for and knife makers I have helped with designs, I already know. It really is amazing stuff when it is done properly. The only reason I love seeing Crucible keep coming out with more super steels is because it keeps the price down on steels like CPM S35VN and CPM 154. Other than price, as far as composition and performance go, they could haveb stopped at CPM S35VN and as long as the maker gets the HT and quench right, I am 100% happy with it across the board for overall performance.
Just so you know Joey, the financial nightmare of the divorce, and the financial issues that were a big part of what made me want it for five years before she finally agreed, and the further financial devastation that followed losing a lot of my work after the severe injury in 2017 that all but took me out of the game permanently, and me just not being able to afford it yet no matter what I do, are the only reasons I don't already have a Shady. I love the model, hopefully someday I'll have it back together enough to buy one.

J JBKnifeworks - is there an appreciable performance difference between your cryoed A2 and s35vn? I've been pretty impressed with my Shogun in A2 as regards to edge retention, ease of sharpening and care. Wonder how much better could the s35vn be ? Thanks.

Better is relative. Properly done cryo-quenching adds to the toughness of the steel and the edge retention. Then the S35VN being an actual stainless steel, would be more corrosion resistant in general. But the expense isn't always justified for people who aren't exposed to a lot of salt air or salt water, and the knives aren't exposed to other corrosives like blood. Also there is more to it than just steel type. There are other factors. For instance, a mirror polished finish on a knife made of O1 Tool Steel, which tends to rust pretty easily, would be less susceptible to surface rust than a coarsely textured finish on a knife made from the same bar of steel with all other elements of the knife designs, uses, and conditions being equal.
