So I took advantage of that sheath deal that was being offered by Diomedes Industries and Fiddleback Outpost. I sent in my F2 for them to borrow and in return got a discount on this awesome sheath for my OS Lady Finger. A much needed upgrade!

I had also asked Jason about getting a dress belt 'fixed'. It was a belt that I inherited when my grandfather passed away that was damaged by a tailor when I asked them if they could resize it. Jason came up with the great idea to reuse the buckle on a new belt and he stamped my grandfathers initials into the belt as well, a really nice tribute. I'm super pleased with how the belt turned out, as well as the sheath!

Anyways, during our correspondence it was mentioned that it would be cool if I did an unboxing when I got the package, so that's what I did! I was really impressed by the care and details that went into the packaging. Labels on everything, very well protected goods, sticker :D , samples, etc, all little things that really add up and make a difference in the end. I'm sure many of you have already experienced this first hand, but for those of you that haven't ordered from Fiddleback Outpost, here's what you can expect when you get your package!

PS. 'Dragon Scale stamping' is hard to say.

Marc has got it going on at the Fiddleback Outpost! The details in the packaging really shows his passion in what he is doing in this quality handmade cutlery and gear dealing venture

I'm going to order something soon just to get the business card :)

Yes, we're pretty proud of our packaging and some additional swag that we're offering. Packaging is something that everyone at the Outpost (there are three of us now and this particular package was put together by Robert) believe in pretty strongly. For one, we're Apple users, so we're used to pretty packaging, but more importantly, we've read some posts about user experiences when they order an expensive knife (not specifically a Fiddleback Forge) and it just comes in an envelope - no logos/stickers, no documentation, etc. They feel like, for the price, they deserve more - sometimes they are not even sure if they got an authentic product or a knock-off if they ordered it from a retailer. We understand and agree. Most knife manufacturers, like Fiddleback Forge, take a lot of pride in their craft and we want to make sure that when we ship one of their products, that love of their craft and appreciation of their customers shows.

We just have to make sure we don't spend more on the packaging than the knife.... :)

This is one of the first times I have seen a person pull out of one of my sheaths and fit it to a blade I did not have in my hand when making the sheath. You pray, as a maker, that over time you have dialed in that sheath to fit the knife in question in the best way possible. My heart nearly stopped to watch you simply take it out of the package - grab the knife and slide it in.

To watch it fit as it should the first time pleased me deeply.

To see your grandfathers belt come to life was a pleasure as well. We could have replaced that dress belt - but knowing you from the forums - it made more sense to give you a daily user.

I included a second belt keep, which I almost never do, to give you some versatility. The initials placed at the end of the billet left it a little longer than I usually make them so I wanted you to be able to keep it secure. Honestly belt loops should do that - and you can take the extra keep off their if you would like.

Thanks for the experience of the unboxing - I can't wait to see that finger in its sheath in about 5 years. I will simply look better.

That's cool! I didn't really even think about that. The sheath fits very well.

I'll get a chance to wear the belt for the first time tonight. We're going to dinner and a show, I'm looking forward to it. I think I like the second keep, we'll see after I've worn it a few times.

Thanks again Jason.

Great post Orion! It was fun watching you get into all these new goodies and check out the outpost!

Nice! Its good to see this! Thanks for posting it. Love the sticker Marc.

I can't wait to get out with the new sheath. I've got an antelope hunt on Oct 1 in Wyoming. I'm sure hoping that I knock one down so I can oh the knife to work and film that process.
