Fiddleback without a Stamp?

Hello guys,
Just wanted to ask this awesome forum a quick question. I'm new to Fiddleback Forge Knives and got my first one a few weeks ago. It was an Blueback Asp ( thanks to Mist's review, and to bonafide for the awesome sheath!) and just got a hunter to go with it. The hunter has no Fiddleback stamp on it but has all the rest, 3D, bullseye laynard. I know the seller is a good one just didn't know the history yet, here is the link for the picture, im sorry I do not know how to upload pics yet. http://m.ebay.com/itm/161347957315 Do they all have a stamp or is this just an early model.

Thanks again for your time, I enjoy learning from you guys in greener parts of the country.

I'd send it in for spa treatment. There it will be authenticated and given a new stamp.

You're golden on that blade though. I believe it was picked up off of the Arizona Custom Knives website. I could be wrong though. Looks like someone gave it their own spa treatment. Huh...

Certainly looks like one of ours. Yes, please send it back to us and we'll clean it up and put a proper mark on it.

Thanks,
Ken

I remember that one. Sky polished it up, and I'm guessing buffed the maker's mark out of it in the process. The etching on the old ones was fairly faint and can be polished off. I have a couple that are almost non legible.

I'll second Duder and suggest sending it in for spa treatment and they'll re-etch it.

ETA: And Ken beat me with the official word so my post is moot now.

I have an older Hunter .. the mark is still there but very faint. You gotta have young eyes and the light has to hit it just right. ;)

Awesome, thanks Duder , Ken, and thurin it is an awesome blade! I will for sure send it in, well maybe after my try stick.

You guys are great! Thanks again.

Yes Sir,
Love his sheaths, and saw it when it poped up. I also got his BushKarda. Figured those two with my Asp would do anything I needed out and about.

When he did his polish, did he buff the blade or just the handle?

Yes Sir they did. It doesn't look like the bushKarda was though. I loved your carver model but thought the bushkarda would be an awesome carver with a detailed point.

Awesome thanks thurin!

It does look awesome! Just didn't know about the stamps and everything. First one I have ever seen polished. Both are wicked sharp!

No Sir,
But I also didn't know ask. Just thought that was another option and only knew to ask you guys when it was missing the stamp. I know now it would hurt the resale but I don't think I would ever sell it, I'm one of those sentimental guys, and in the Desert of Texas I'm sure I will use it and my kids will to some day.

It's nice to see you staying so positive:thumbup:. He really should have explained what he did to the blade. As long as the warranty is still good, you scored!

Do you think that the polishing he did would have effected the heat treat of the blade or weakened the scales?

If in polishing, buffing or grinding the blade (I don't know what he did), he heated up past a certain temperature it could effect the heat treat. The seller most likely took his time and was careful. I'd ask him exactly what he did.

That hunter is Lovely!! The Maroon Linen Micarta sure looks great all polished up. Reminds me of wood. :)
