Field Cutlass

The blade is steam engine boiler plate 20" long, 1.5" w, and 1/4" thick.
It's a full tang knife with stained Maple handle scales set in back leather.
The guard and pommell are the same steel.
The sheath is harness leather.
She'll go to Ebay on Sunday.

And steam engine boiler plate has enough C to harden? I'm kinda surprised.

I quench it in black used motor oil. I can take a piece 1/4" thick X 1.5" X a foot long, harden it and break it over the anvil . I like using it because of it's age. Might as well use old steel to make an old styled blade.
