Hygiene is very important for a number of reasons, and even more so when out in the field.

What tricks and tips do you know that you would like to share?

What important points do you think need to be made clear to everyone planning a trip?

Staying clean helps prevent infection and disease. It also makes you feel better.
Ways to do it:

1. Wash off at a creek, lake, etc.
2. Air-or-sun bathe for thirty minutes to 1 hour.
3. Brush teeth and stimulate gum daily. If no tooth brush...fray the end of a green twig and use it instead. Stimulate gums with clean finger.
4. Monitor feet on a regular basis. If you can, change socks daily and massage feet daily to aid in circulation.
5. Clean your cooking utensils.
6. Use catholes that are located well away from camp.
7. I also believe in cutting your hair (alright all you long hair hippies....:>)) to decrease the likelihood of parasites and disease. (optional)

I use the colder acronym to take care of my clothes....I'll let someone else explain this.

Note: most of this information can be found in my book in chapter 6 (health).

Hey Spark you ever do a rotation at NTC, FT Irwin?

Anyway, field funk is a serious issue.

Personally, I brush my teeth and carry baby wipes. These are greatest creation known to man after 100 mile tape (duct tape). Baby wipes make the best toilet paper, remove camo face paint effortlessly, great crotch cleaner, equally effective foot cleaner too. Baby wipes just simply rule. You can get them in all sizes, but the plastic jug was always the most successful for me.
