Field Grade Bodega detent question...

Hey guys,

Just received my first FG Bodega, and I love it. I have a quick question about the detent however. When I look inside the frame, the detent appears to be flattened. The knife is still smooth, so I'm wondering if it's a flat headed detent like the Grimsmo Brothers use, or if it has just flattened down from repeated flipping. Thanks

They are intentionally flattened. There are a few different ways to set a snappy detent. One way is to keep the detent ball round and use a really sharp shoulder on the detent hole in the blade. This creates a snappy feel when you flip the knife. Another way which seems to be the way begg prefers is to flatten the face of the detent ball a bit so that the sharp shoulder is on the ball itself. Neither is wrong or right, just different. I prefer the sharp shoulder method as IMHO its easier to set up. If you dont do the begg detent ball perfectly it would be super smooth especially when paired with a heavy stonewash.

Strong-Dog- so how you liking the Field Grade? I really like the design, but yowza if I can't put together the scripts for one. A lot of people like the flipping action- saying its damned near perfection. What's your impressions? Pics? Would love to hear about it.
