I have my Brend from Brigade Quarter Masters in hand as I type and it is SPECTACULAR. The bottom is not as pointy as some I have seen in pictures and I like that-and the cutting edge is sharp(I'm used to Cold Steel Hatchets). If any of you are sitting on the fence take the plunge. The hatchet flows through the air also the spike is not needle sharp but it will get the job done. I am completely satisfied. Now I need to find a knife to go along with it.

Oliver I don't have a digital camera yet-But I will try to explain the main difference as I see it. The bottom of the handle is rounder than the one pictured-there is no spike on the bottom of the handle. But I like the roundness. I purchased this hatchet as an item for my bug out bag-end of civilization-civil disturbance kit ect.. and I plan to get a (Survival systems?) shoulder holster for a 1911(RHD) and Brend will hopefully be on the left side of the rig. So, the rounded bottom will not poke me. I hope I did not ramble too badly also it is SHARP I like it a lot. The whole hatchet is 1/4 of an inch but it is not heavy. My Marine Raider Bowie(Ontario Knives Spec-plus line) weighs a ton in comparison. The hatchet just flows and one can change directions mid strike full force with over torqueing sp? your wrist. I am blown away. I can comfortably handle the Brend left handed. Also where else can you post comments about a product and get the a response from one the Principals of the company 2 hours later. Mr Prisco thank you for offering the Field Grade because I would never be able to afford the select grade. And after the Holiday Season I will be ordering the new Ranger's Knife from you all.
