I'm really stuck trying to decide between a BRKT fox river or the bravo-1. Any suggestions?

Both.

Jeez. Unfortunately I'm no help in restraint when it comes to barkies.....

I couldn't find a photo of the Bravo-1. The Fox River is on sale at Knife Works. The FR reminds me of my current favorite fixed blade, a Browning Mako Pro-- nice broad blade, flat grind (?), simple, good handle.

Personally, I would say the Foxriver, I just like the look of it more. Between thouse two knives, its really gonna be what you like the look of most.

There are some distinct differences between the two, although they are similar in size.

The Fox River has a plain handle and no guard at the blade. The Bravo-1 has a contoured handle that includes a self guard.

The blade on the Bravo-1 is a noticably thicker than the Fox River.

The Bravo-1 is heavier than the Fox River.

The Bravo-1 has a thumb ramp, the Fox River does not.

The Bravo-1 comes with a kydex sheath; the Fox River comes with a leather sheath.

The Fox River has a slight crescent shape from butt to tip. The Bravo-1 is straight from butt to tip.

The Fox River was designed primarily as a hunting knife, though it does well with bushcraft, etc. The Bravo-1 was designed as a heavy-duty bushcraft/survival knife, though it should do well with hunting.

I have both, they are both great knives. They both come absolutely shaving sharp. I don't think you could go far wrong with either - but you'll have to make up your own mind which one to buy . . . first!

I personally like a slight bend in my knives. I feel it aligns the knife better when in hand but YMMV. So I would pick the fox river of the two.

Thanks to everybody for helping out with my decision...I think I'm going to end up with the bravo 1.

You might give Mike Stewart a call, because I couldn't find a retailer for the knife. Looks like it has a price spread from 210.00 to 300.00, depending on handle material. Skeletonized tang, so balance on the knife might be forward some, but I havn't read anything on the knife yet.

After seeing photos of both, the Bravo-1 fits my idea of a wilderness knife and would be my first choice. I wouldn't cry about having either on my belt! I'm a cheapskate, so being able to buy a Fox River at half the price of the Bravo-1 would influence me heavily. I like the thumb ramp myself, although I think self guards are more important for cleaning game where the knife can get really slippery. You should be so lucky to need to clean big game in a survival scenario (I don't carry firearms when hiking)!

I like what I'm seeing with Bark River knives: clean lines and all business--- and free of Rambosis :)

I just ordered a Bravo-1 with green canvas micarta scales from DLT Trading. If you want a Barkie and can't find the one you want, give them a call. They're close to the manufacturer and they will do everything they can to help you out. Great people to work with! I'll post when i get the Bravo...it should be here May 2.

Hmmm, birthday coming soon. The Bravo-1 is definitely at the top of my wants list now, but can't decide if I want the bone white scales or the natural micarta with red liners. Yeah, I'm dreamin, but sometimes they come true. :D

You guys are terrible, now I have to decide over a Bravo-1 or the WSS survival knife!
