Field Knife 1 micarta scales.

I have a set of unbuffed natural micarta (quite grippy) as well as buffed black micarta. If you’re interested, feel free to email me at forester0156@gmail dot com

Thanks to a kind member here I have a set of micarta scales on the way. Do you have any tips to remove the old scales? I haven't tried yet. Do you need two drivers? Ie one each side? Or do they unscrew from one side?

you should use two hex wrenches, one on each side. Take all 3 fasteners apart, then press the barrel and remaining screw out the opposite side. Don't try and pry the scale off. It may take some considerable pressure to push the fastener out. If one fastener feels too tight to press out, try another one.

If the scales on there have never been removed, the fasteners are installed (looking from the top) through the left/show side scale, and the screws that are removed are on the right side.

F fielder I want to just reinforce what Tony said. Keep the 'Carothers' side fasteners stationary. Loosen from the 'LA' side. This will keep the barrels from turning inside the tang. If you allow the barrels to twist you run the risk of galling them and can have a heck of a time if that happens. I 'think' the scales you are getting came off of a field knife I had, and were from the lastest run that Nate and Jo did, so that's a nice score on those
