I plan to do these in blade lengths from 5" - 8".
I'm aiming for an easier to carry (no leg tie and/or suspenders) extreme duty
work knife for around $ 200.
Just not sure what to call it..

Thanks for looking,
Mike

Mike, just a thought, but in order to reduce weight, you might think of making it a single graud, and getting rid of the riser on the spine (the guard area). It might make for a smoother flow too.

I am not criticizing the work you obviously put into that design, just stating my personal preference. I would ditch the guard, keep the riser, make the choil slightly less aggressive, and I would consider a slight re-design of the handle where the index and middle finger would rest. Have you done the design out of plexiglass or hardboard to see how the handle would be comfort wise? Again, these are just personal preferences. Overall I think it looks just plain tough!

I make the 1st. from wood to check the feel. Then I'll do a test piece to check function.
I'm taking all input into account and am making changes.
Many of my designs never make it past wood (and this one hasn't made it yet either).
I'll get the changed and other sketches up soon.
Might go in a different direction.
Thanks,
Mike

I hear ya, Mike. I have yet to have a sketch make it unchanged to a piece of steel. For me, that's the longest part of the process.
