Marcus (aka bullet101) is in the process of creating a field knife for me.

Here is a couple of pictures post-grind:

The steel is 1.2842, very similar to O-2. The blade is ground very thin for slicing effieciency. The blade is 5 inches long. The (sharpened) false edge is pretty close to a zero bevel.

Why do I want a fairly small, thin knife with a thin edge as a field knife? Because thick, heavy knives are a recent phenomenon - old time field knives were pretty similar to kitchen knives. So this is a old time knife in tactical clothing.

I really like the blade profile, but exposed tangs aren't my cup o' tea.

wow, i love that knife! i got started with balis, and more recently wanting folders. but this fixed blade really caught my eye :) very jealous...

Very nice. I like the blade shape and the handle design. That should make a great utility knife.
