Marcus (aka bullet101) is in the process of creating a field knife for me.
Here is a couple of pictures post-grind:
Here is the knife after HT... almost done...
The steel is 1.2842, very similar to O-2. The blade is ground very thin for slicing effieciency. The blade is 5 inches long. The (sharpened) false edge is pretty close to a zero bevel.
Why do I want a fairly small, thin knife with a thin edge as a field knife? Because thick, heavy knives are a recent phenomenon - old time field knives were pretty similar to kitchen knives. So this is a old time knife in tactical clothing.
