The choil on the field knife is unique. Is it designed for choking up past the handle or does it have a purpose other than that?It would of had another inch or so of blade edge if not for this large cut out so I was wondering if this had a practical purpose.I love this knife and cant wait to take it camping.I was sorry to see It didnt make the "06" catalouge.

I think he is referring to the X-42 Field Knife (BGH-93), that was made out of BG-42 steel, switched to S-30V and then unfortunately discontinued. We are currently working on a new version of this knife and it could be out within the next year.

As for Woodsy's question about the choil on the knife. Yes, it is designed for choking up past the handle similar to the SEAL Pup. I think that once you get it out camping you will be quite happy with the knife.

Enjoy

Is this space forward from the hilt, where you put your fingers as you pull your knife out of an opponent?

i just bought an x42 recondo , brand new , they usually sell for $200 aussie dollars , i got mine for $125 aussie dollars because it didnt have a sheath. what a bargain , plus the sheath is useless anyway.

Thanks Chris. The X-42 is what I was looking for in a camping Knife. Will the new model be made in BG-42? I got my wife a field pup and now Ill get one for myself also as a companion to my field knife. Thanks for the quality blades.

We are still working out the details on the knife right now, but it will most likely use a high end steel other than BG-42.

Another good choice in the Field Pup. I think that is a great knife and not appreciated for what it is.

Thanks
Chris
