I just bought my Field Pup at a gun show a few days ago, and I have to say it's one hell of a knife! Very sharp right out of the clam pack, actually SOG sharp is one way to put it. I can't take the thing off of my belt! I put it on and that is where it stayed, I love the thing. It's very light and perfect for what I do. I'm going to school to be a Game Warden here in Texas or a Park Ranger, whichever works out but I'm hoping for the Game Warden position. I am a Range and Wildlife management major so this knife will really come in handy, not to mention I'm an Eagle Scout so I will have plenty of places to use the knife for camping and outdoor purposes. The price alone is great, and before I opened it I thought,"well you get what you paid for so let's hope it was worth the 40 bucks." Well of course it was! I've never had a fixed blade perform that great especially for the money. The thumb ridges are very sharp and edgy which works out great for firesteels. It casts a lot of sparks. It comes with a lanyard to use for your choice, so I actually punched a hole in the sheath (I purchased the one with the leather sheath) and used part of the rope, which came with it, and tied up the belt loop to make it a bit more "snug" around the belt. The rest of the lanyard was used to make an intricate knot tie through the hole in the handle of the knife. Looks good and feels great in the hand and on the belt. Nice shape too, doesn't look too intimidating in front of sheeple like the SOG Seal Pup would. Of course I used the Field Pup itself to do the cutting of the lanyard and it did the job flawlessly, cut straight through with very little effort at all. I can't wait to really field test it. As a scout, I'm not going to go stab a 2x4 or a "rock" to tell you about the knife, 'cause that is not what it is for. I'm going to Field test it on a campout or two and use it as a "knife," such as woodwork, fire making, food preparation, fishing, and maybe some whitling to tell you guys how it performed. All in all I can say that it is a great little knife for the money and hopefully this encourages you guys to get one too, J.
