Just got one for a hard user and I'm impressed. The handle seems designed for me, the blade shape is excellent and the execution is top notch. One of the first knives I get with near perfect edge grinds. We'll see how the AUS8 holds up, but in any case, it's a breeze to touch up.

For the price, this may be knife of the year.

Cheers - RLR

Testing:

Just around the place, so no "hardcore" stuff yet, but cardboard boxes = butter, cedar sapplings = balsa wood, misc. shrubs = straw. This knife works! The AUS8 seems to be done properly, staying sharp and "ding / roll" free. No need for even a touch-up yet.

The ergos are #1. Comfort like I've never used. Even wet and dirty, that baby just kept on sticking to my hand.

Thanks again - RLR

Hi RLR,

Great to hear your over pleasure with your new Field Pup. You have quickly zeroed in on some if its finer points. That handle is one-of-a-kind perfect. And every knife I've played with have had outstanding grindlines.

As you play with it more, let us know what you think.

I think that you are going to be very pleasantly suprised with how good a stainless steel that AUS-8 really is. I have a few knives made with it (including a SOG Trident and SOG Tomcat), and I must say that I'm very pleased with that steel, and with SOG products in-general.

Some knives shine in the oddest places...

Still testing: CORN!

Had an arse-load of corn to husk, tips to cut off and then kernals to strip off the cobs for freezing. Not hardcore, once again, but tedious and repetitive. But, the ole' Pup just ate it up, cutting cobs, slicing the kernals clean off and then chopping up all the left overs for the the garbage. A joy to use - comfortable, slick and perfect for this odd job too...

Glad to hear you like it; better yet to hear that it is performing well for you.
With a good heat treat AUS-8 is a very nice steel. I have it in my Trident and my Mini Gentleman.

The Field Pup has been getting a lot of attention. It is very comfortable to hold and cut with in any hand position.

Here's an image for you that I took (along with its sheath).
